I'm going to make a video rendering of the mast/spire/antenna/masttena/spitenna/tall-pointy-bit-on-the-roof on a slightly more powerful computer. I'll spend the rest of the day trying to model the last section based on renders and diagrams, then I'll transfer the file through the warehouse and set up scenes, shadows, and fog. It will take 24 to 48 hours to render as SketchUp is limited to one core. It will be like the one I made with shadows a few weeks ago, but it might spiral around as it rises and it will be slower to show off the fine detail. I will be pulling out all the stops to make this the best render yet.

Port Authority expected to tap Legends to run WTC observation deck

http://therealdeal.com/blog/2013/03/...ervation-deck/

The three-story observation deck could rake in $875 million during the 15 years of the deal

It's just crazy how lucrative these observation decks can be. I could barely believe it when I heard that ESB makes more money off of its deck than from the leases on all of its floors. There's no way that's the case here, because the office space is so modern by comparison, but it's pretty impressive when you look at the power of tourism by the numbers.

Anyway, can't wait to go up there -- although that cantilevered platform at HY will give any observation deck in the world a run for its money.

Nothing has changed. This is just cheap McDonalds type food and the original restaurant floor is mentioned as "event space."

We just had some crappy stadium vendor win the bidding war. I know when I visit a stadium I don't think high class food and a low key environment. The first thing that comes to my mind is insanity.

I wonder what, if anything, will be done to prevent ice build-up on the spire from being a hazard to those on the ground?
