They have been down for the last month or so

Here are the direct links to the cams, might be helpful if you add them to your favorites.

New Spire Renders

I wish I had time to make it half as fast to reduce the jittery feel. I hope you enjoy it all the same.

These renderings were produced without shadows due to the immense amount of time, in the range of many days, needed to produce such details. Although some realism is lost, using shading in place of shadows reduces render time by a factor of sixty. To facilitate the production of the nine individual clips, the model was rendered simultaneously on two computers. The four "short" clips and the ladder clip were produced on one computer while the "Long" clips were produced on a second computer.

1) One World Trade Center Spire, Line Diagram (Long):
This render portrays the spire as the bare line diagram, colored by section for clarity. The camera slowly wraps its way up the spire at a radius of twenty five feet making one revolution every forty feet. The second portion consists of a pan down from the Spire at a distance of fifty feet from the center of the spire.

2) One World Trade Center Spire, Line Diagram (Short):
This render portrays the spire as the bare line diagram, colored by section for clarity. This video consists only of an upward and later downward pan at a distance of fifty feet from the center of the spire. The time of each takes thirty seconds.

3) One World Trade Center Spire, Colored by Section (Long):
This render shows the spire with the sections colored by section and all lines hidden. The camera slowly wraps its way up the spire at a radius of twenty five feet making one revolution every forty feet. The second portion consists of a pan down from the Spire at a distance of fifty feet from the center of the spire.

4) One World Trade Center Spire, Colored by Section (Short):
This render shows the spire with the sections colored by section and all lines hidden. This video consists only of an upward and later downward pan at a distance of fifty feet from the center of the spire. The time of each takes thirty seconds.

5) One World Trade Center Spire, Transparent and colored (Long):
This render shows the spire with the sections colored by section and made to be transparent allowing an internal view without lines. The camera slowly wraps its way up the spire at a radius of twenty five feet making one revolution every forty feet. The second portion consists of a pan down from the Spire at a distance of fifty feet from the center of the spire.

6) One World Trade Center Spire, Transparent and Colored (Short):
This render shows the spire with the sections colored by section and made to be transparent allowing an internal view without lines. This video consists only of an upward and later downward pan at a distance of fifty feet from the center of the spire. The time of each takes thirty seconds.

7) One World Trade Center Spire, Actual Color (Long):
This render shows the spire in the color it assumes in reality with no additional modifications. The camera slowly wraps its way up the spire at a radius of twenty five feet making one revolution every forty feet. The second portion consists of a pan down from the Spire at a distance of fifty feet from the center of the spire.

8) One World Trade Center Spire, Actual Color (Short):
This render shows the spire in the color it assumes in reality with no additional modifications. This video consists only of an upward and later downward pan at a distance of fifty feet from the center of the spire. The time of each takes thirty seconds.

9) One World Trade Center Spire, Interior:
This separate render does not have a longer companion render and follows the basic path of a worker climbing through the structure looking up then descending rapidly from the highest section. The spire is colored by section and contains no additional modifications.

Nice Video if you haven't seen it yet. It shows what the complex will look like when it is all completed. Looking forward for 2 & 3 WTC to commence soon.

I took this picture while sneezing while the tower was lit up this past September 11th. The effect was not Photoshopped.

Will 1 WTC have exterior lighting to continue the cool lighting effects without affecting the lighting quality of the office spaces?

Great pictures, OnePointWests!
I'm also sad to hear what happened to Carlos, his photos on SSP were spectacular. Anyone know why he didn't post here?

I still can't get the literal meaning of squaring up of the base. Can anyone tell me why the base had to be squared leaving the space at the 4 corners hollow?

I have always wanted to see a definite skyline from Brooklyn and I think LM is gaining that confirmation.

The earlier design had the base square with chamfered corners rising as triangles tilting outward decreasing till the upper base becomes square where it joins the tower. As a pedestal for the tower this reverse base looked a bit odd. The new square vertical design is more subtle so the tower is the focal point. The hollow corners are only there because they were already built, once the cladding is complete that becomes irrelevant.

I am new to this thread but have been following One World Trade Center's progress for about an year. The journey has been remarkable and I'm glad Lower Manhattan is looking stunning once again. I don't know but I've always had a soft corner for the Lower Manhattan skyline, even though Midtown is obviously bigger and booming with tons of towers... perhaps it's because of 9/11 that I love LM more...

I am an Indian and I live in Jaipur, Rajasthan. I am America's biggest fan, I wish I was born an American. Americans are so cool.
I am an aspiring architect and I love skyscrapers, especially New York City, Chicago, Seattle, etc. And One World Trade Center is my favorite among all the giants.
But the twin towers were plain awesome... height height height.. and mass..
