the crane is definitely a 760.

760 sections are typical 13.1' high and 9.9' square.

i see at least 8, maybe 9 sections in the tower of the high crane.

slew mount is 6.1' high

machine deck is 6.9' high

in this photo, the bottom of boom seems to be level with the bottom of the highest spire section.

based on the webcam, the crane has:

heel section: 45.6'

4 inserts: 30.6' each

head section: 55.4' including the rooster sheave.

this picture seems to be a pretty good reference point for crane elevation to confirm the height of the doghouse.

i am beating this drum because to install yet another crane at this point seems totally ridiculous.

also, you can freestand a favco 760 up to 200' using reinforced tower sections...

...so if they had to reach higher than they can right now, they would have set up the upper crane with more tower from the start...

Is it just me, or does that thing on the roof start to look more and more like a minaret?

LMCCC just tweeted spire erection continues, 12 of 18 pieces now installed. Can anyone confirm? On the webcam it looks the same.

No, not sure what they're talking about. Only 11 pieces installed. Piece 12 has been sitting there since Feb 14th. The two top-most pieces are sitting at 1WTC's base but the other few pieces in between remain offsite.

If you go to One World Trade Center's Wiki, it says the spire won't be finished until the freaking summer! Regardless, this has to be the slowest building project I've ever seen.

What's about Dubai Pearl? But honestly, why it take so much time to install this spire?

most of the wait was for the pieces to arrive.. did you not see how fast it went when all the pieces were on site?

Correct. Block 313 is picked to the doghouse and ready to be installed as soon as wind is calm.

lol. Wiki is wrong, these BB boards contain more real and updated information than any website.

But piece #12 is on site for already one month. What is the problem with that?

In my opinion, I think the problem was that the other peices have just now started to arrive. They might be waiting to install the Guy Wires, too, before any more pieces.

ALSO, there's an issue with winds. I heard someone say that if winds are over 15mph, then work will stall. Winds have been between 15-20, gusting to nearly 40 for many days, on and off.

NY’s new world trade center deck to bring $875 million revenues over 15 years
Quote:

A New York-based company that is owned by the Dallas Cowboys, the New York Yankees and an investment fund has been selected to run the observation deck atop New York’s One World Trade Center, which will be the tallest structure in the Western Hemisphere once completed.

One World Trade Center, which is due to open in 2014, is part of the redevelopment of the World Trade Center site in downtown Manhattan that was the site of the September 11, 2001, attacks. It sits on land owned by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
