which is a shame because this tower is otherwise amazing... but hey... they HAD to put that turd of an antenna on top because of a few millions and the supposed... "security" issues...
I do not like the Goldin Finance 117 roof but that's a matter of my opinion, either do like Makkah Royal Clock Tower Hotel roof but that's also a matter of opinion, and personally i think 1 wtc roof is better than both of them, some at this forum would agree, and others would not.

From wtcprogress,

"One WTC's curtain wall is now 90 percent complete between floors 90 and 100."

1WTC looks a million times better from the corners (NW, NE, SW, SE). Otherwise, without the taper, it really just looks like another giant box that just happens to have decent cladding. Hopefully it looks less boxy from these angles when the parapet, comms ring, and antenna are done...

In mi opinion i like most the views where it looks like a box because it is like the original 1 wtc, it looks more massive.

Agreed. It looks like an obelisk when looking at the corners; it doesn't look very wide from those angles.

However, the "dead-on" angle, like below, is the most evocative of what was lost, and is reminiscent of the North Tower.

It's too bad that the base of the tower turned out like this, I don't like it, even though they did the best they could with the cladding. This tower was supposed to be an abstract image of the Statue of Liberty. How cool would it have been if they made the base resemble the eleven-pointed fort below the statue? Guess it's too late for that.

The original design was kind of silly, if you ask me. Back when it was that "abstract Statue of Liberty" it was nothing but sixty or so floors of office space and then a few dozen floors of sky-gardens(?!). It did nothing to return to Lower Manhattan the vitality of the World Trade Center and looked like a big, out-of-place glass sculpture. I'm very glad they changed it.

Its amazing how the small extra cladding makes the building look so much bigger.

I want those 4 minutes of my life back. The kid sounds like a whiny brat.
Probably missed a few hugs when he was younger

He sounds like he may have Asperger Syndrome. I have it, and didn't sound or act too different from him when I was his age.

I will admit, I am not of what the building has become and what it was come to represent (a symbol of greed, poor coordination between the different groups involved in it, etc.). However, I believe that if we had been shown this building (square base, no ob deck, no restaurant, antenna-looking-"spire") from the start, people would not be complaining nearly as bad.

I like 1 World Trade Center and what it is meant to represent. However, I do not like it compared to what it could have been, and I do not like it for what it has come to represent.

I remember seeing a picture from that exact angle, but with the burning twins in the background.
