According to wikipedia, 1WTC has a 61m square base, and the twin towers had a 63m square base, so 1WTC is slightly smaller than the Twin Towers at the base, but not by much.

I disagree, but it doesn't matter. I didn't realize I had gotten so off topic. Sorry guys.

Does anyone know if the NW base corner has been square off? I'm pretty sure the NE one was just squared off, but the NW never has any good views.

The NW side still isn't squared off yet.

Thanks Controversy. Do you know if the NE corner is indeed squared off?
I don't know why they won't just go ahead and square off the NW side. It doesn't make sense.

I associate with Mike O'Reilly via instagram. He said the beacon may be crowned in May-June depending on weather conditions

The parapet did, yes, but he's probably talking about the mast. To answer your question, it could take up to the end of May, but start getting ready.

The NE side is squared off. I don't think they added all the panel clips yet for the NW, NE and North sides.

Good views of the base (skip to 5 minutes).

You guys do understand that Wikipedia can be changed by any one of us so I wouldn't bet $1 out of my pocket on any of the information being correct. Hell I might go in and change 1wtc to a 500m x 500m base for shits and giggles

I went to the Wikipedia page for my city (Albany, GA) once and changed "county seat" to "toilet seat".

I like Kanto's Idealism,, Rooftop is what should be measured,, therefore, SWFC would be the 2nd tallest, HK's ICC would be 3rd and the Sears/Willis would be 4th tallest in the world, probably followed by Mecca Clock Tower. and who the hell knows where the roof of the Burj is? it seems to be 1 Giant 2700ft Spire,

However, I've never seen the 212' figure. Are you sure? I almost always see 210', and when I don't, it's someone on here who thinks it's 200' for some reason.
Yeah the internet has a funny habit of giving all sorts of measurements for the Twin Towers. That's why I had to do some real digging to find the right answers. The widest point is at the base (this includes the cladding) is 212'. That's a blueprint measurement. From the office floors its widest point is 209' and for the some of the mechanical floors it's like 210' 2" I believe. Well the reason 1 WTC is 200' is because that's without the cladding. So from one steel column to the opposite column is 200' With cladding add 2.5' on each side. The same with the original Towers. It was about 207' almost 208' from one column to the opposite column. So yeah basically the old Towers were wider than the new Tower.

Since the "antenna" will probably counted as spire it's not topped out yet.
But late april sounds good

Someone said that the right-hand side was taken down and up again to reconfigure it so that it can be used for fitting out the floors.. I guess something similar will be done for the left-hand side.

They also removed the right (northern) part of the temporary structure at the base of the external elevator, maybe the southern part will disappear soon as well?!

Anyone also noticed that they removed the containers from the spot above that circular thing they poured in the summer of 2009? One half of it is now visible again..

Further evidence that the One World Trade Center tower will actually exist: this epic concrete pour, which, per Port Authority public relations executives, took 14 hours and used the equivalent of six miles worth of sidewalk concrete. This plaza, on the eastern side of One WTC, includes a fountain—see that large circle? Fountain!—and concrete boxes where Swamp White Oaks will one day grow. For the true concrete junkies amongst us, there's an epic two-minute time-lapse video of the pour. Pour, baby, pour!
