This is a very cheap way to achieve that 1,776 height. Right now the antenna looks big enough imo to. I will always see this building as just as tall as the original North Tower

And that's why they should have build the spire with the radome design or the one with the open steel structure, to make it thicker. The proportions of the mast as it's being built now just doesn't look good. It's way too thin compared to it's height, that's why it looks so tall now and out of proportions. It will look like a needle on top of the building in my opinion, especially when most of those rings will be removed at the end. That's my main issue whit this 'spire'.

I just think the spire would have looked a lot better in it's original thickness, regardless of what design they chose. The shape would have looked a lot better then too.

Agreed. That is all that is necessary.

I have seen enough to say the spire/antenna is ugly as hell and just degrades a great building

It is incredible to see the cladding reach the top. I'm looking forward to seeing the cladding finished somewhere in May

As to whether it'll be counted or not, I dunno how CTBUH will decide but in my opinion it would he a huge mistake to count it. It would be a huge humiliation for 1WTC to be among the greatest cheaters in history (seriously, only the Federation Tower in Moscow is a bigger cheater. A smaller height achieved honorably is better than a taller height achieved by cheating.

And at the end, I'd also say that 1WTC doesn't deserve to be the country's tallest, just as it doesn't deserve to be the city's tallest because it is only as tall as the North Tower was. Skyscrapers should go higher and higher and not stay where they were 40 years ago. If the PA wanted to have the tallest building they should have built it taller. But no, they didn't bother, they just gave the building a cheating stick. That's why I hope this move will backfire at them and the building will be only 417 meters tall.
Very well said, I agree with you completely. The antennae is nothing but a shameful cheater. The antenna was built about as cheaply as possible and other things have been removed from the original plan as well. Additionally, the other two towers (2 and 3) are basically on hold.

I don't know why anyone fauns over this building- if it was half the height it is now, it wouldn't even be very good filler. There is absolutely nothing interesting about it other than its location. I'm very disappointed with how this is shaping up.

And regardless of the design, it definitely is no taller than the original towers. And until the other two towers are built this is only one, where as at least the Twin Towers were two.

The naked stick looks too tall as its so thin without it's intended white futuristic cover.

Looks like a british telegraph pole to me.

Dunno why but I'm clinging onto the possibility that something could be added at a later date, wishful thinking I know..
