ya, like all of them. Come on, the building itself is gorgeous. Say what you wish about the spire but the building is a real looker

This tower could be concidered iconic, but the only reason for that is because of the tragedy that took place before. The design is 90's all the way, its bulky, the spire looks stupid, the cladding is dull (compare it to WTC-4 for example) and its just plain boring. I would have liked a 500meter comcastcenter(philly) much more.

Hey, is the concrete used here in pillars of low quality compared to that of 432 PA?

I completely agree with you, both 1WTC and 4WTC are masterpieces of architecture and look far better than anything u/c in China

I noticed on the earthcam more crane sections were lift so are we expecting more spire sections being installed?

Not funny. Not funny one bit.

Looks like they installed the climbing cage! And most of the Earthcam cams are fitted to only viewing the memorial.

1990's design? No, not really. This building features dominant straight lines, angular features and glass cladding. This is a late 2000's, early 2010's design.

Not really "bulkY" either. The tapered angles running up the length of the building provides a very streamlined effect.

The spire is similar to that of the Sears Tower and ESB. You're not going to be looking at it from as close as these pictures dictate.

What constitutes an "exciting" building in contrast to a "boring" one? Organic towers like Shanghai Tower? We're trying to create an iconic New York masterpiece, not a sore thumb.

The design is well done. It resembles the original WTC in terms of dominance but is also projects modern designs into it as well. Replacing the original Twin Towers would be nice, but would not fit well with a new modern skyline. (The recently build Goldman Sachs building is a new modern building that would not fit well with the original complex.)

Take off your nostalgia goggles.

I would have to disagree. Ping An IFC is an incredible architectural masterpiece and with better height. Height isn't everything but the architecture speaks for itself with Ping An IFC. Also China Resources Headquarters (really close to u/c) in Shenzhen as well I would put ahead of 1WTC and 2WTC as well, also with better height.

Doesn't matter because Torre Verre will beat them all, at least design - wise.

....and please, just stop thinking the taller the better!
The most amazing and beautiful buildings since decades are the NY Times building and most of all the Gehry building (Beekham tower)
Gehry is the greatest since Loyd Wright....

Beekham Tower is an incredible work of art and an architectural masterpiece. However, I'd have to say the most amazing buildings are the Art Deco towers of the 20s and 30s. That's what I love about New York City, the architecture is diverse and spans from many eras. And now we have 1WTC to bring Manhattan into the future. It perfectly crowns the lower Manhattan skyline as well. Watching its construction has been a great highlight and has been very suspenseful.
