Are they dealing with high winds over there, in Shanghai? Would you all like them to risk lifting a 15 ton piece of steel in high winds and then possibly have it crashing into the building, or worse, falling back onto the ground?

Even if it was lifted today or even tomorrow, it wouldn't be installed until May 8.

Since Shanghai Tower just jumped, it will take another few weeks until the next jump I guess, at least after 8 may.

Hmm. I wasn't even referring to those last few days where 1WTC has only a few sections left. ST's main structure has been rising faster than 1WTC's antenna during the last 6 months or so....

WIND & WEATHER DEPENDENT

Crews at the World Trade Center site are poised to raise the final sections of spire to the top of One World Trade Center tomorrow morning, May 2, at 10:30 a.m. Workers will raise Sections 17 and 18 to a temporary work platform atop the structure in preparation for installation by ironworkers at a later date. When complete, One WTC will stand an iconic 1776 feet high, making it the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere.

WHO: Port Authority of NY & NJ World Trade Center Construction team

WHAT: Photo opportunity from ground level to capture the raising of the final section of spire to the top of One WTC

WHEN: Thursday, May 2, 2013 at 10:30 AM (Event is wind and weather dependent)

WHERE: Meet at the corner of West and Vesey Streets

ATTIRE: Boots and long pants required. The Port Authority will provide hard hats, vests and protective eyewear. RSVP to [email protected].

Yes, light will shine down--just not during the mornings or evenings (that picture was definitely taken in the early morning). But anywhere in would pretty shady at that time.
