You have to stop thinking in black and white. Look at each building as an individual. ST is beautiful and an amazing architectural marvel as is 1WTC. Both have their own unique identity which makes both admirable. What's ugly are boxes like One Liberty Plaza, or most of the designs from the 70s

The camera was moving around again, and it looks like these guys might be the window washing crew for the Millenium Hilton. Perhaps that's why the main EarthCam is aimed at one spot during the day at different times of the year. Maybe they don't want it moving around while building maintenance operations are going on.

You are arrogant in accusing an opinion of being arrogant. Just because his opinion differs from yours means he is arrogant? In my opinion, this building is great and the petronas towers are exceedingly outdated and ugly.

It is my personal opinion. I am not a fan of organic, curvy designs.

Sorry if that was asked a lot of times before, but what is the height to the very tip of the beacon, that litte "pole" on top of it included? Is 1795 ft right?

iirc the CTBUH doesn't include lightning rods, so it shouldn't count.

Considering the beautiful Singer Building it replaced, yeah, I'm sticking with my statement

Good architecture is universally appealing. I think Shanghai Tower is beautiful with its curves, and 432 Park Avenue is lovely in its simplicity. What I don't particularly appreciate is when politics and money take a unique and attractive skyscraper design and remove all of its best features.

Unfortunately, that is what happened with 1WTC. It is a disappointment on so many levels. It should be taller, it shouldn't depend on a glorified antenna to generate height, and the podium shouldn't have been squared off. Those were bad design choices no matter how sentimental people want to be over this building.

I'm fine with that if they don't count it, but I'm just curious about the height. So, does anyone have information on the total height?

I agree for the most part. However, the squaring off of the base was due to safety reasons.

Yes!!! They just lifted it up!! The beacon piece is much larger than I expected so it will surely finish the antenna off beautifully.

Check out my May Update! Enjoy

o.O????? It has nothing to do with the rest of the tower. It is the only visually stunning, existant part of the design that wasn't scrapped off for a few bucks off an already hugely expensive project.
