Actually, the north entrance on Vesey Street is the lowest open-air entrance at elevation 305' 6". The total height of the Tower is 1,797' 8".

Awesome models though this thread doesn't belong here. It belongs into Tall Talk

WE should just make the spire so insanly tall that it becomes the tallest in the world, and each time a building gets taller, we just add on more to the spire! We will FOREVER BE TALLEST!

That 2nd picture shows the spire without any bulges for those platforms that must have been for mounting the outer skin. Is that picture accurate? Will the platforms be removed or will they stay?

Looks great - can you also photoshop out the temporary platforms on the spire? That would be sweet!

Impact floors? Appears to be at nearly the same height as floors 93-100 in the North Tower.

This is correct. It is going to be interesting to see how they are going to come up with 1776 ft. as the official height...hehe.

I think the top openings provide an austerity, and even a certain "personality" to tower.

Don't think for a second that these were safety or maintenance issues. It all boiled down to money.

EDIT: Here is the news article I mentioned. http://www.esquire.com/features/worl...ebuilding-0912
It's such a scary reading! I quess, then the tower wouldn't be a masterpiece, if its construction is not most outstanding - I mean, how can they cut out on the glass cladding of the lower bottom and the radome, despite its great meaning for New York - it could be a new icon of NY?
And the transport hub costs 4B$? It's going to server only 50.000 passages? Sick! Better to use those money on the tower, not a station.

On a side note, the Elbphilharmoni is also breaking the budget.

So at the end it is the lowest entrance that will be counted? I thought so before but when I saw CTBUH's skyscrapercenter to use the 1776 figure I thought it changed
