Hey folks, I just wanted to warn you that when I enter this page of the thread my antivirus alarm goes on and it says that it has detected malware. The only pics blocked here are those of the new forumer "liliazckj". I think the mods should investigate this cause somebody could get a virus from this page

Ugh please stop making renders, they're good but it's ruining the fun of seeing it when it's complete

You have to admit, no matter how unrealistic this would be, it would be stunningly looking as iconic, especially with that radome layer around the spire and the original sloped base.

No it would look really stupid if they built a twin for this actually.
This design is not meant to have a twin, in fact most of Tower 1's design is really supposed to be the twins formed together as one (hence the 8 sides) and I'm sorry but that render and all the other twin 1WTC renders I've seen look bad, this design is iconic by itself like its meant to be.

It would look terrible! Plus, we would never get to see 2WTC in your dream world and frankly, that's not a building I'm not willing to toss aside

agreed. If we had twins you can omit 4WTC in that pic as well. Two of 1 WTC's (World's most expensive building) = double the cost.

I know WTC1 has cost over $3 billion. This is probably close to double what the Burj Khalifa cost. Quite pricey, but frankly the WTC buildings HAVE to be massively overbuilt to instill confidence and get tenants into them.

But Just for clarification, can anyone confirm that this is *officially* the most expensive skyscraper (in unadjusted dollars) ever built? And how would it compare in inflation-adjusted dollars to older buildings, such as the original Twin Towers or the Empire State Building?

Iirc, both of the Twin Towers combined had a cost of 2,3 billion after inflation has been taken into consideration (their cost in 1970's dollars was 400 million)

Quote from Wikipedia on the Willis Tower, which would have to be considered essentially the equivalent in size and program of one of the old WTC towers:

"Sears and the City of Chicago approved the design, and the first steel was put in place in April 1971. The structure was completed in May 1973. Construction costs totaled approximately US$150 million at the time, equivalent to $780 million in 2013."

So even the original Twins were very expensive in their day, which surprises me because we have been told their "efficient" (i.e. "cheap") design had contributed to their eventual downfall.
