Check my video of the installation of the Beacon!! I played the song final countdown along with the video because I felt that it fits very well with the situation...we've been waiting for this moment for ages

Will those rings be removed?

Will the rings on the spire eventually be removed?

No, they will house the dishes on the roof permanently.

The beacon hasn't been turned on. What you saw/see now are the white and red FAA lights.

One World Trade Center: 1776ft / 541m.

Willis (Sears) Tower: 1450ft / 442m.

If you mean roof height, then Sears Tower is taller, but 1 WTC is higher by official height.

They have a valid point. Going by the CTBUH, the antenna/spire may not be an integral part of the structure. However, the WTC is an excellent building regardless of what is counted as its height.

The beacon made the antenna look much better. I hardly mind it at all anymore.

Please, could this old debate about roof/spire height stop? One of this building is tall, the other one is taller, choose yours but keep it for yourself.
Let's just celebrate this new T/O!

Guys, I have mixed feelings about what I'm about to say, but here it comes. I'm going to completely scrap my model of the communication rings and spire. Look out for V3 in June. The gopro video alone gives me more information (above the tube stock framed sections) than every photo combined up to this point. In addition, the model I have is far too wide when compared to the actual spire, and the plates are way too thick. The only things that will be recycled are the platforms (I can use the grid pattern already modeled) and the very top beacon piece (I made this one from plans, so it is accurate). I will be using a different computer and I will make complete renderings of the tower's exterior, base included, with the newly modeled spire and rings. I thank the user who made screen grabs of the video, and also the photographers for the PA facebook page for taking detailed images of the top sections, especially the square section.
