Wha-what? I never knew this. That's like 30 feet per floor for Ping An. Are they creating super lofts or something? What's the point in this?

You never knew it because it's not true. The Pingan Financial Center is 115 stories

# Its a shame they couldnt have a flock of Bald Eagles lift the spire into place..
That's in the movie version.
# Completely agree! Who would want to live on the 164th floor of a 2100ft tower

I showed and asked 30 people at work various photos and diagrams of the completed WTC along with other tall buildings and what the height should be measured to and 30, without hesitation, said to the roof and not to included the 'spire' as its basically an 'add on'. Sometime we have to get a second opinion from non skyscraper people to get a another perspective. Having said that its still a gorgeous building and congrats, but 542 mtrs it is not.

Faint, but it's visible... the FAA red-lighting indicator.

imwo, If they ever do decide to add the skin to the spire, I think it would look best if it's silver instead of that originally planned white.

Even though the tower is a great piece of architecture on it's own, I do hope this will eventually happen.

This is an amazing time for not just NYC, not just the USA, but the world as well in my opinion. When will the beacon be up and running though?

(Also this has nothing to do with the building but didn't think it deserves a topic, but how many floors would a 2300 ft building have if it was say designed like the old North tower but at that height)

Congrats on a supreme achievement. The spire installation actually made it on Sky TV. However, despite the beauty of the cladding and the facades, for me 1 WTC doesn't live up to the heritage of graceful skyscraper tops that NYC is renowned for.

As You can see, the beacon isn't turned on. Only the FAA red light. We'll have to wait until the spire lights up...

LOL, I'm 2 days away from SSC and I miss such an event

No seriously, I'm very happy for NYC, even though for me the building has been topped out a year ago. It is another awesome mark on the way towards a completed 1WTC, now I'm looking most forward to the completition of the cladding

Excellent to see the mast complete! but.. Has anyone seen whether they've started base cladding on the North or West sides yet?

So will the spire be counted? Is it 1776ft tall officially?

If the Sears Tower antennae doesn't count towards its final height, then the antennae here shouldn't.
I have the same opinion. If I build a 30 storey bulding with a 200 m spyre, is it a 300 m high tower? I don´t think so. I believe that for example the Shanghai World Financial center is much higher than the One WTC, because the chinese one is 492 m tall without any spyre or antenna. The newyorker is 2only" 417 m, the antenna, spyre or whatever is called is an addition.
