Totally agree if they stop here then its a real joke, just because the WTC hs that name does not mean that every other building has to be smaller.

Yeah well the Chinese build for shits and giggles most of the time they can't even find tenants to fill them, unlike here we build on demand, aka the smart thing to do.

I get his point, but why floor count instead of roof height? By his philosophy, the old WTC, which had the exact same roof height as the new, would have been taller than the Sears Tower because it has 110 floors to Sears' 108, yet the new would be shorter because it only has 105. That's what I was getting at.

Shoot, I've been looking at the floor count of the smaller 1,007 foot building of that project this whole time. I thought it was just going to have super high ceilings for premium office space. I apologize, everyone.

Are those vents going to stay that "orange"? I'm wondering because they were black in the beginning.

I am so so happy to see New York finally getting their glorious skyline back in shape. I hope this helps bring some closure back to the city and of course the families and friends of those lost.

Nope, it looks like they just put in plywood to keep the wind out so they can work more easily on the mechanical space behind the facade.

Previously, I thought the spire looked ugly. Now I think it just looks ridiculous. With that flat-bottomed shiny streamlined beacon atop that dull grey mess, it will always look unfinished. After all this time and money spent, what a shameful aesthetic disaster!

But anyway, congrats NYC on the partial restoration of the lower Manhattan skyline.

One World Trade Center is not a building, because it isn't finished? What the hell is that dude smoking? I'm sorry sports fans...when a structure tops out and makes its physical presence on the skyline, it is a building and should be ranked in the tallest lists, spire or no spire!

Does anyone know when the temp. platform will come down now that the spire is basically done so they could resume the last ring?

Exactly. The building itself is decent- not anything special but okay. But the antennae is awful.

They need them for many things, for example:
-HVAC intake of outside air to mix with recycled air
-releasing heat/cooling equipment like transformers/motors
-supplying air to run generators (exhaust leaves at the roof)
-lots more that I can't think of at the moment.
