I want to keep you guys updated on the render progress. I might be able to fix my ring structure without having to add a week to the render. I'm just going to upload the one I have pre-calculating and then, instead of deleting the stills afterward, I'll just delete the early ones with the rings in them. I'll then copy the model with the scenes into a new file and then I'll delete all of the scenes above the rings so it doesn't spend extra time rendering. It will still take a few days to render those 30 or so seconds, but it will be worth it in the end. I've made a list of corrections for the rings that I'll implement in the coming days.

I have now finished the pre-calculations and I have started the final render. I seriously hope, but doubt, that the rendering takes less time than the calculations. I had nearly one gigabyte of calculations for a 75 second film and it took three days to get there. I can't wait until I upgrade to a new computer.

Edit: Something is off here.

WTF by PMadFlyer, on Flickr
Now introducing my silent film in Technicolor!

I hope this only effects the first frame, because I can't afford to start over.

Second Edit: This cannot be fixed.
I'm going to restart from scratch and I'm not going to use the rings at all for the sake of time. I'm sorry guys. I'll try to revisit this in the future, as in a week later when it is finally finished. I'm going to attempt to run it without the benefit of pre-calculations in an attempt to overcome the neon colors.

transformation

Long time lurker, first time poster.(I promise not to get in semantic arguments about height)
Might I say what an amazing visual transformation 1WTC has undergone in just the last few weeks. With the glass nearing completion, suddenly it has the quality that we were always promised; as you move around it, sometimes it looks like the original WTC and sometimes it looks more triangular and somehow taller.
Starting to really love it!

I am thrilled to announce I finally saw 1WTC from Fire Island on the Robert Moses Bridge, and on the Ocean Parkway by Jones Beach! It was so clear out today and I saw an obviously very tall structure in the distance too big and thick to be a lighthouse, plus there aren't any lighthouses out towards the city past that way. As soon as I saw it, I knew it was 1WTC. Very exciting! I saw it clearly 40 miles out. Couldn't make out the spire, but definitely saw the shape of it. Awesome to see, it's my first time with my naked eye by my house seeing it!

Awesome beacon news! I saw the WTC from both the robert moses bridge and ocean pkwy today! I saw the shape but not the spire. I'll have to see if I can see the beacon at night from those locations!

I don't know, seems like day time would make sense. It'd be much less noticeable and keep the look of it at night ( and in general) a surprise still. If it did come on, they were probably just making sure it's working or something like that.

@iiConTr0v3rSY I said the blinking light stopped and it came on And maybe they didn't want people to notice it so they did it by day
