Very simple. It's not just another boxy shaped skyscraper. it has a bit of character to it. It does however remind me a little bit of the Hancock tower in Chicago.

How do you see similarities between these two. Both have a huge spire/antenna but that's it.

Well care to elaborate how 1WTC isn't dominating when it is? If the North Tower stood by itself and didn't have a twin it would basically be the same thing as this.

They both taper, as they get higher by the floor. Now they aren't exactly the same, but just take a look at the Chicago Hancock tower, and you might see what I am talking about.

I see what you're saying. Not the best comparison but I see it from certain angles.

Well, looks to me like the communications ring is finally complete. Glass is topped. Now when will they remove those hideous temporary platforms on the spire? Anyone have an idea? Like everyone else, I'm sure, I'm eager to see the cranes come down

Structurally complete, anyway. Once more antenna cables are added on the mast, they will put those white satellite dishes on the ring. (At least, I think so)

The communications ring looks like the crown of a great king. It gives 1WTC a very regal look.

And why can't a boxy shaped skyscraper be distinctive and unique? As the twins were.
There's also plenty of towers around the world that look exactly like 1WTC, hardly distinctive. In fact, this complex will only gain individuality once 2WTC is topped out.

I would start with the color and the reflective facade, the blue tint of it almost always makes it fade into the blue sky. The reflective aspect of it seems like it was made to emphasize on the city around it rather than it, also the tapering design adds to the overall elegance but takes away from the impact it has on the skyline imo, by seemingly shying into a smaller tower at the point where it should be the most impacting.

Sorry WOTW, but I don't think you'll ever be satisfied with the site unless a twin design is/was built. That's how I see this whole situation.
You can PM me a response, I don't want to further derail the thread.

I'm sorry you need to assume such things, because not once have i ever brought the twins into this discussion. In fact, all i'm saying is this complex will only be completed once 2WTC is completed, which is in my opinion, the best tower out of the bunch and the only true distinctive tower and the only one that will stand out.
The Twins are irrelevant.

Are there really many towers ? I feel like that's a baseless statement. I know there is one tower which looks similar, but besides that, are there any others ?

No, microwave equipment is going to be installed when broadcast tenants sign for the building, don't know anything about Durst's plans.

By the way, don't expect the perfectly aligned dishes you saw on renderings, it is more possible to get messy arrangements of a variety of types of dishes.

Yeah, there's like 3 of them if i'm not mistaken. While rockmont mentioned the originals weren't as distinctive, when in fact, you couldn't get more unique than the Twin Towers.

Blue tint + tapering + reflectiveness = Chameleon. But if you don't agree that's fine, 1WTC is the epitome of dominance or whatever..

It does fade in with the sky depending on the weather...that's not even a hateful statement, it's an observation

You really seem to have an issue when someone has an opinion that differs yours.
Honestly,grow up.
