Yes, go in the beacon. You just have to tiptoe a bit, past the security, go up the elevator, climb the spire like a labber and voila.

You know...as long as it's not too much of a hassle for you

No, no problem at all. I already purchased really sticky gloves to help me climb the spire!

Btw, as a huge Lego fanatic, your local Mall, Arundel Mills, has a pretty nice Lego store in it. I've made the 110 mile trek down there several times already to buy. There was even a tower crane there at the mall at one point a year or 2 ago. lucky you
My next project will be building a lego wtc.thank you 4npower!

Most of the highrises in New York are too boxy and made of concrete with outdated designs. Also there is a scarcity of supertalls at the moment, which becomes apparent when NYC skylines is scaled next to Dubai and Hong Kong, although this issue will be solved within 5 years. New York needs more varied architecture to have maintain it's position as the second best skyline in the world. It might lose its place to Shenzhen within 7-8 years from now.

The missing glass near the elevator is really making me mad... Will they put the glass on once the elevator is de-constructed, if so, when will the elevator be de-constructed

Yeah, they have to wait because the elevator itself sticks out to the sides, so it would most likely interrupt any attempts to put up some cladding.

Looking at the first and second photo, I'm even more optimistic about the cladding. The old zipper's new cladding has so much more lustre, when the whole tower's glass is cleaned, it'll look five times shinier than it does already!

Plus, 1 WTC is not only handsome/beautiful but I've realized that nothing else changes its shape like this one does.
