That's one of my favorite places in the world to view the city. Downtown and Midtown look unified in one infinite wall of commercial power, with 1WTC as the bulwark of the harbor.

That base picture is gorgeous. The open fins are so unique, I love it when buildings play with light to make an impression. Pure modernism.

The aviation light is extremely visible from long distances

Which is the best skyline at the moment?

Shit the x's is what made the tower unique in it's own way, it looked like a modern version of the Hancock bldg only much more modern and still had the sleekness of the rest of the WTC bunch., it's still unique in that it's going to have 4 spires and let's just hope they build it to the height they originally intentended? I think 1183 was the proposal. But as for this, I disliked the base at first, but now that it's got some progress, I'm actually liking it quite a lot now.

It was 1,240, and they won't. It'll be 1,171.

Someone had brought up the 3WTC height change here for some reason.

Sorry for the off-topic, but that's the most stupid thing I've ever read in this forum. Outdated designs? Dude, it's called history. If NYC is outdated, then we should demolish the whole Paris so we get a modern city Sorry but I prefer most of old buildings like the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, the formerly known Bank of Manhattan Trust Building, 70 Pine Street, and even any old building surrounding Central Park or on the Upper East Side, than many of the new projects being under construction or that have been proposed.

Highrises and Supertall buildings are good, I guess that's why we are all here, but calling NYC outdated, boxy and concrete-ish ....that's just lame.

Shenzhen? LMAO, please............

The NYC skyline is by far the most stunning encompassing all the architectural styles and designs. Dubai and any other emerging skyscraper cities cannot compare to NYC. I'd say Sans Rival.

Hahaha...hold on dude, what's up with the personal attack? Can't I even express my own opinion here? You American's should try be more tolerant of criticism. And New York's history is nothing significant compared to Beijing or Shanghai IMO. Anyway, I suppose you have no idea about the developments going on in Shenzhen? Check out this thread if you want to know about Shenzhen's skyline at the moment. http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showth...17647&page=253

I never said New York skyline is bad or anything else. Anyway, 1 World Trade Center would have looked much better without the spire
