Some people like the industrial look it has.

Is it a crime to like something you don't?

It's, for now, better looking than the mess on top of the ESB.

It fits perfectly in NYC. In fact, it looks just like almost every other spire in the city sans Chrysler Building. I love it. Keep in mind, there are still 8 temporary platforms to be removed. AND the guy wires installed which will break up and "anchor" the spire beautifully. The temp spires yet to be removed are clearly visible in this picture:

Not photoshopped. He used a slow shutter speed, making the water look like 'ice or glass' and the same effect goes with the sky, the lower the shutter speed, the more it gives that effect.
