To the best of my knowledge no molten steel was found in the debris. There was a lot of molten aluminum, copper and even lead. All were present in significant quantities in the WTC and have lower melting points. A large amount of highly warped steel members, mostly from the floor trusses, were found however. The NIST investigation did a lot of detailed analysis of how the steel structure performed in the fires.

At the east side of the core some new table forms are being installed for an other part of the second basement floor.

Which i believe included a conclusion that most/all of the coated fireproofing material was blown off the steel during impact, contributing to the quicker failure of the steel structure on those floors during the jet-fuel blaze.

It's going to be great to watch this rise. All the years of anticipation and finally we get to see it go up. Awesome!

Yes, NIST experiments showed that the fireproofing would be removed by a sandblasting effect. However there are also allegations that the fireproofing was installed poorly by Mafia connected contractors that underbid. Either way not having that fireproofing doomed a lot of people that day.

Of course the Freedom Tower will have a RC core as does the new WTC7. I'm not sure if Towers2-4 will have RC cores or not. I'd imagine they will.

Yeah they will also have RC cores. It's going to be great to see three buildings more than or very close to both the same height and size in the skyline as the two twins, plus a smaller supertall and three or more other towers over 800', and many other new skyscrapers for the area. I think this is LM's biggest skyscraper building boom, and it never had a period with so many buildings so tall going up at the same time. Econimic slowWhat? Having the largest office complex and tallest office building ever in a city where ALL of the tallest buildings are office buildings (as of right now) will be great.

That's also why the columns of the FT are covered in concrete. Not only is a steel-concrete combination very strong. The concrete also protects the steel during a fire or an explosion.

Isn't the steel in the ESB's frame covered with concrete, too (built in 1931)?
