What a disappointment, in all seriousness... I am really let down by the new WTC. Everything about it has just disappointed me. It's as if there is no ambition with the site. I heard someone mention they were scrared to compete with the ESB. No surprise there really sums up the whole site. Yes, it's a beautiful building with an amazing memorial and museum. But they really failed on the site in my opinion in terms of whats there, the timescale and ambition.

Nice. The fireworks look so cool with the skyline in the background.

Sources close to the project were saying it. Not to mention the symbolic sense that it would make and the fact that construction crews were busting their hump to get all of the lighting installed by the 4th. AND...they tested the mast lighting and the beacon two days prior (on the 2nd). All of these factors pointed at the 4th being the day.

Apparently, according to Otie, the only reason it didn't happen was because someone dropped the ball with getting the proper paperwork submitted on time for approval.

there are no tax dollars involved. From the PA website,

Founded in 1921, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey builds, operates, and maintains many of the most important transportation and trade infrastructure assets in the country. The agency’s network of aviation, ground, rail, and seaport facilities is among the busiest in the country, supports more than 550,000 regional jobs, and generates more than $23 billion in annual wages and $80 billion in annual economic activity. The Port Authority also owns and manages the 16-acre World Trade Center site, where construction crews are building the iconic One World Trade Center, which is now the tallest skyscraper in the Western Hemisphere. The Port Authority receives no tax revenue from either the State of New York or New Jersey or from the City of New York. The agency raises the necessary funds for the improvement, construction or acquisition of its facilities primarily on its own credit. For more information, please visit http://www.panynj.gov.

That image is fake and the original author doesn't want it posted on the forum.
