Yeah, right.
The great thing about opinions is that you can choose to agree or disagree with them.

They also make it easy to discern who you should be listening to. If someone has the words overrated or pretentious in their vocabulary, they are probably trying to force you to agree with their "opinion", and/or, they believe every opinion but theirs is worthless, and "obviously wrong".

I for one, love both Trump Chicago and this, they are both some of my favorite towers.

Amazing pics btw

I agree. But this isn't just "another tower".

Some people need to have some respect and be grateful we got any new towers.

We could have been stuck with just the memorial, or even worse, Child's first version of 1 WTC.

Wasp has a point. Considering the amount of immense and jaw dropping skyscrapers already erected or still under construction around the world, 1WTC in and of itself is very conventional in the big picture. I hope 2WTC and 2WTC get completed, or else the final result will be underwhelming to say the least.

I think this tower is beautiful in its memorial like resemblance of the 2x wtc towers. Making it overly flashy would have lacked class.

Just because there is other incredible Skyscrapers being built around the world with unique designs doesn't mean that One World Trade Centre isn't as spectacular. Often the most simple touches can create an inspiring and incredible building stand out more.

One World Trade Centre benefits from it's design as it has the modern sleek glass and reflective sides with a modern body on an old school type body. For instance if you look at it at all sides straight then it appears like a simple box skyscraper, however on the sides it gets narrower at the top.

You can sometimes go overboard with your designs and you have to remember that different skyscrapers suit different cities. New York is very classical so a crazy skyscraper wouldn't blend with the rest of the skyline. Whereas a skyscraper in Shanghai can be dramatic because it's in a different skyline. One World Trade Centre benefits from it's simplicity to make it just as dramatic and impressive. It's subtlety makes it look classy, modern, elegant yet strong and sharp.

It's not particularly spectacular or ground-breaking on a global level, even on a national level. It's a bit disappointing they didn't go for something a bit bigger as a middle finger to those that took down the original towers.

Well it's about bloody time. Now maybe the Port Authority will get off its collective duff, and allow for something to get done. Bureaucrats. Corporate and Government, equally pathetic. The only thing that matters is the bottom line. The almighty dollar.
