This building is a disappointment. I live in Lagos, Nigeria and even though i have not been to New York or USA before,as a kid i never missed an opportunity to go through magazines that have pictures of the famous skyscrapers of New York. That is what the city is know for- Its skyline and sky scrapers.

When the old WTC struture was destroyed, a unique opportunity to overtake and superceed the past has equally been destroyed. One of the biggest traumas of 9/11 i believe is the psycological hurt those who saw the old WTC now go through. This results to an unending sense of hurt and feeling of nostalgia which the new structure was supposed to have erased. If 1776 feet the height of the WTC1 building itself, probably that would have scored a good point. It would have been a lot better than the present situation where the 1776 feet is the combined height of both the building plus a mast that is being masquraded as part of the building. Very laughable.

I do not reside in USA so i do not know if cash availability contributed to this disatrous and historical mistake. But then, if it was cash, why not build a single great WTC supertall plus 1 or 2 other smaller structures. Rather than this present state where we have like 5 or 6 mediocre structures being planned and built in the WTC site. Who knows, this present situation of 5 to 6 mediocre skyscrapers might even be more expensive than the one great supertall and 2 other smaller structures i suggested.

The only remedy i forsee is for New Yorkers to rally round and support a new great supertall of 1776 feet(for the building itself please, not the building plus mast/antenna) to 2000 feet to be built near the WTC site, or at least in lower Manhattan. This ought to be done as soon as its practicable in order to finally bury the ghosts of 9/11. If this is not done, the sense of loss of a national and international iconic building will continue to hunt all lovers of New York like me thats writting from faraway Lagos.

Thats my personal take on this.

Well this isn't a 'Personal take' thread so quit your garble about people being hunted (I think you meant haunted). "Finally bury the ghosts of 9/11" lol what a drama queen. You sound like a fake account created by someone who already is on here just to sh** stir and be a general annoyance.

More pics/facts/constructive discussion related to the NEW World Trade Center please.

Calling this tower a big disappointment is seriously a bigger disappointment.
There are rooms to say it could've been better but still, this is undeniably the best architecture in the world...
That's not the way to say you love New York City, dude!

I completely agree with you. As I said earlier, the new complex' ignoring of height is a disgrace, however the buildings as a whole are not. They're among the greatest buildings in the world because they more than make up for it by being masterpieces of both engineering and architecture. Height is important, but so is engineering and architecture. These buildings might have been far, far more, but even now they are among the best buildings ever built. They are stronger and safer than any other building in the world, probably with the exception of 432 Park. Also, they are green and offer the absolute pinnacle of office space quality

I love how a handful of people argue about the exact same topics every two or three pages. I remember when there was actually a sense of quality to this forum. Things sure have changed...

Um, quite honestly, about what else do you want to talk about? I mean, the last month the only progress done on the tower was interior work, which is invisible for us. There's pretty much nothing else to talk about here

If there's "nothing to talk about" then give it a rest.

Actually I agree with him, Kanto. Even though I often get into off topic discussions, I really am trying not to anymore. Some humor here and there isn't that bad, but these little discussions where everybody argues have grown really old. This thread should mainly just have pictures on the pages now and updates from individuals with inside info. We've heard enough complaints about the complex.

Let's put out this wildfire, eventually!

To cut a long story short:
1. The One WTC is easily the best architecture on earth with its beauty (I guess) magnified by the spire at the top. However, I wish they didn't embrace the spire into the height.
2. The building really deserves the space of what was taken away.
3. The building's got the finest cladding on the earth.
4. The building suitably dominates the skyline.
5. And the building could've been way taller than what it is now, which is indeed a disappointment.
6. Finally, this site is not the dead end or the last hope for height-fanatics like me...
7. Also the dessert is still to be served, I mean the 2 WTC...

So, I think we, New York Fanatics shouldn't get so disappointed, too...
