Look at those angles... and the reflection of the sun
I wish they would finish with the elevator and the crane already.

ought to be named, ground zero fortress. also seems we can't shake off the term used to describe the area of detonation of a nuclear bomb to name what will be once again the nation's most prestigious real estate in less than a year

Yeah, it's getting quite ridiculous. How about calling it by name ...

- the WTC complex
- the WTC site
- the (new) WTC
- the new Trade Center
- ...

So many options ...

'Ground Zero' was an appropriate name from 2001 - 2007. I stopped calling it Ground Zero in 2008. Everyone else should of as well.

I agree. This should once again be called the World Trade Center complex/site. It's no longer an empty hole in the ground.

I was just watching the Torch Cam via EarthCam, and I couldn't help but notice how dominating 1 and 4 WTC is over Lower Manhattan. It's really remarkable. I can't wait for 2 & 3 to be built. The complex will be so domiating and amazing. I can watch that webcam for hours lol.

Agreed. This is the World Trade Center once again. I never even referred to the site as Ground Zero after 9/11. I still considered it the World Trade Center even though it was gone. This Tower is One World Trade Center not One Ground Zero. I rather the documentary be titled "Freedom Tower" instead of "Ground Zero Supertower." Idiots..............

That's exactly what I've been thinking. Americans seem obsessed with equating the terrorist attack to a nuclear bomb detonation. Every time I hear someone say "ground zero" I'm absolutely disgusted.

Wish they would start a kickstarter for the spire shell. I'd gladly donate $100 USD.

Uh no. You clearly don't realize how hard maintenance would be for it. The logistics are just impossible with how little room there is up there to begin with and just think of the headache it would be to replace broken panels or whatever, and keeping it clean and white...forget about that I know I wouldn't want to climb a spire 1,776 feet in the air just to clean it, and feel safe. Yeah money played a role but so did common sense and that radome wouldn't have worked. They definetly could have came up with an alternative but it is what it is.

If cleaning the radome would have been such a logistical nightmare, then I guess cleaning the outside panels of glass on surrounding the beacon will be a hell of a nightmare and logistical issue at 1776 feet in the air
