This is NOT the proper way to credit a photo from Flickr. (Give credit at least to the photographer). If users post this way than Flickr can disable its permissions for SSC to host pictures from its site.

If a user has their sharing option restricted its probably for a reason. Don't steal photos.

That guy, Mockai, has been told that several times in the past but still disregards the photo posting rules

How ironic.

The CN Tower and Chicago radomes are much smaller and seem easier to maintain due to setbacks, material, accessibility, etc.

Exactly!! Less then a week ago he was giving you and other people hell for posting pictures just to post them. He was even accusing people of posting pictures just for likes. Most of those posts were mysteriously deleted..

Just my opinion....

Just think it's not very smart and original to post pics everybody saw on Flickr.

Well, a radome like 1 WTC's original no, but there are examples of similar structures at shearing heights. For instance the spire that tops the Burj Khalifa, the top of Taipei 101, or the top spire for the Makkah Royal Clock Tower. Imagine being the one who has to maintain that monstrous clock.

Mockai, if you post Flickr-hosted photos then please use the BBCode or atleast post the link to the photo.

Yes, but the spire on 1WTC is only 92 feet taller than the spire that crowns the CN tower in Toronto. That's not an enormous difference.

Willis tower's antenna have an enclosure but it looks like they don't have any 'difficult to maintain' issue (from like 1973) , otherwise it won't be built.

untill now its still there, what about 1wtc?
did you think SOM can't figure out how to solve that tiny problem about maintaining spire with enclosure in 2013, while back in 1973 they already done that with willis/sears tower? its completely maintainable i think

That's comparing apples and oranges. Sears' is a completely different kind of enclosure, much larger, and has multiple setbacks and an access ladder if I recall correctly. This is so much thinner and taller than that is.

I gotta say, viewing that up close is quite ugly. It looks like the crap they put on the pipes underneath the sinks in public bathrooms

Man, if that's what they had planned for 1WTC, I'm sure glad they scrapped it

Yep, I'm defragmenting my computer as we speak so I can be back on SSC again. It may be another week before I really get going, because I have a load of AP Government summer work to do in the next 7 days.

The tower itself looks like it could use bit of a makeover. Are those rows of windows boarded up??

I would too, but Durstbag, would probably take my $100.00 bill, look at me, say "thanks dickweed!" and kick me square in the junk, while saying, and laughing SUCKER, the whole time i'm wretching in pain... Also nice photos above 1ptwest

Is there anyone here (like me) who actually likes the spire?

Also any news re base cladding- nearly complete?
