Feel sad nobody pays tribute to Cesare Peli...
From the Hudson river, all the beauty of the site is enhanced by the "new Art Deco"gem that the World Financial Center is!...What a great architect!..(He had the same philosophy and respect for the surrendings with his Carnegie tower and in many sites all over NY)

When the mast appear radio equipment will need to rename the height of a building in the thread.

I disagree. In this picture, it looks like windows from office floors above are bending in the middle as they descend down the base, like birds taking flight. The only thing I dislike about the base is the color, it's completely off and doesn't match the office floors cladding. Maybe the plan was for it to be grey/silver, but it looks green, especially when reflecting the trees in the memorial park.

Probably is just the different color between the base and the office floors cladding that emphasizes this perception of mine.

There are huge brackets on the upper sections of the spire to hold the equipment. I don't have to show you the blueprints/official plans because the brackets are plain as day in the finished product.

See the top 4 sections below the beacon? All of those boxy, symmetrical, square/rectangular holes? That is for them to mount equipment onto.

This leaves me with the question of whether or not you really know what a radome is, and what its purpose is. It is designed to be transparent to radio waves. Did you think they were going to put a radome over a mast with no radio equipment for absolutely no reason? Good grief, Charlie Brown.

So once again, your just "assuming" this square is for that and a bracket is for that other thing. It's kind of like me telling you that they are going to put a jogging track on top of the communication rings, because well, that's what it looks like and a friends wife said she heard about it from her Yoga coach.
So unless either one of us has anything official to back up our "hearsay", then it really means nothing.
As far as knowing what a radome is, well I had the honor of working around them for the last 20 years of my life as there were many of them on every ship I lived on. But either way, according to your logic, since they scrapped the radome, I guess we should assume there will be no kind of communication equipment on the mast?

Either way, my intentions aren't to cause an argument with you. I simply thought someone could actually come up with something concrete about communications equipment being put directly on the spire as I have never heard anything official about it. All I have ever heard, is this person remembers hearing it from this person and to me that really means nothing

These buildings face west, and when the sun is setting on the NJ side across the Hudson, the colors on the towers I are stunning.

Of course the sun still travels from east to west, but regardless of where you are located, east or west, your still going to have a sunset

4npower, the spire is designed to accomodate transmission equipment, whereas the communications 'rings' accommodate microwave receivers. There are technical requirements which limit the possible location of transmission antennae to locations as far as possible above the building's roofline.

If you still question this, look up Richard Gilbert at DCM. He's indicated the spire is designed specifically to support a broadcast antenna and that the fiber and electrical connections for it are in place. His company built the thing. I expect he's reliable on the subject.

After reading RobertWalpole's response, yes it hit me what you were
referring to. Sorry for sounding like a smart ass. I meant it in a humorous way. It's Saturday, the kids are at grandma's, wifey has a bottle of wine, and I'm about 7 beers deep into a case of Troegenator Double Bock

It's like our second Lady Liberty and NYC residents should be proud that they get to view this beauty on a daily basis

Like I said before, if this had been the design in the first place, and we had never seen a render of the radome, I doubt there would be much griping at all, other than the fact that its height might not "count".

I'm waiting to see how it looks when the crane is gone and the beacon is lit.
