It doesn't take 6 people to rip someone on a stupid question. One person told him it was a stupid question and that was the end of it, so is it really necessary to post a bunch of memes and crap to try to be funny? No...I don't mean to be the nasty NYGuy from SSP but the off topicness is incredible

I didn't mean to rip on him but it was sheer disbelief that on a skyscraper forum the poster asked that question. Especially because its one of the most recognizable supertalls on the planet.

But yeah as you suggested, back to the building. I think G.A.M.E.R. asked previously but didnt get a reply, any news on the interior?

Go ask 100 people on the street about that building. I would bet like 1 or 2 know that it exists or anything about it. So no, being unaware of it's existence is not surprising at all. If anyone is naive here, it is us skyscraper geeks for expecting everyone to know about buildings on the other side of the planet.

People only casually interested in skyscrapers may visit this thread and we shouldn't expect them to be aware of all other skyscrapers. In other words, it wasn't a stupid question at all.

Now current estimates of things (May be WAY off):
Crane dismantle: Mid August 2013
Elevator dismantle: September 2013
Rest of Glass: Late-September/Early October 2013
Base Glass: November 2013
Interior: January/February 2014
Open: March/April 2014

This was posted by a previous poster, I've been following these dates so far as I cant get any more detailed information. Its approaching mid august so apparently if this info is reliable then very soon

I agree, this is why and many others don't post here much or at all anymore. We can never go more than 5 pages without some useless crap whether it be flame wars between other members about the spire, the base, or chinese skyscrapers.

How does the derrick come down once the crane is dismantled? Is it able to deconstruct itself somehow or does the derrick also require a smaller yet derrick to be dismantled?

I've wondered this as well. I could see them using a pulley system. It's the most practical and efficient method I can think of.

I imagine it can be broken down into small pieces and brought down by elevator. Remember, they put one together on the top of One57 and that was about the only way they could have got it up there.

Yes, it can, but it's still far too tall for someone to reach. That's why I think they'll use a pulley system to dismantle it, and then they'll send it down the elevator (external would be my guess.)

What if they got the smaller workers to piggy-back to dismantle the derrick?

Good news on the crane removal.

I'll be away from the forums since i'm dealing with personal issues.

At least the construction in real life is faster than in Google.
