It's amazing how fast times flies, exciting and a bit scary hahaha! I remember when me and my friend were watching the progress of this new One World Trade Centre since 2008 when me and him were in Year 7! Now I'm graduating! Back then it was really only just at it's foundations and now it is almost complete ... I'm going to miss coming on this website every now and then to see the updates Everyone on here has been so intuitive and intelligent ... well almost everyone Jokes! I'll still always come back and the progress of 3WTC, WTC Transit Hub the memorial and museum and then 2WTC will be amazing to watch too!

This thread will still be open after completion. The completion of the tower only marks the beginning. There will be innumerable amounts of photographs distributed through here which will keep this thread alive and rich for years and possibly decades to come.

Okay, but I have to say I still can't tell if all are extended. I mean, some of the panels are still reflecting the surroundings while the extended ones seem to break up this reflection. This pic demonstrates that better:

The fins on the south side are complete. They are fully closed at the top and bottom. They open gradually from the bottom. They are fully open in the middle and start to close up again as they get to the top. The appearance of the fins constantly change based on sun position, angle of view and reflection but are uniform throughout.

Whoa. Okay, I'm sure I'm not the only person here who didn't realize that that was the plan for the fins. Everyone who's been asking about the reflections has been, I think, under the impression that all of the fins would be open uniformly. When did we find out about this pattern? I don't think it was clear in the base renders, but maybe I was never looking closely enough.

Around this time two years ago, I spotted the building, then 990 feet, just peaking over the horizon from my town. Ever since then it has held a special place in my heart...also didn't realize how truly close I was to the city

It would have been impossible to notice from the renders this pattern. Those photos above were the first indications of this extension pattern when they were posted a while ago.

It does look uncooordianted from afar, but from up close, the base cladding should feel like a real piece of art to whoever enters the tower.

You can see it pretty well in this render. At least, this is how I found out about it:

Hi guys!

This is my first post ever!

I'm so happy to be joining this site!

So anyway, as you can see from my username, my favorite tower of all time is One World Trade Center! I love the design!

I can't believe how short the crane is! I'm laughing just looking at it! It looks so cute!

I think when the tower is completed, it'll look absolutely magnificent! I can't wait for the east elevator and crane to come down, because they are preventing the tower from looking complete.

Just my perspective.

Thank you for your explanation! Makes sense indeed, I understand now. Judging by those pictures, this pattern actually looks quite good from up-close. However, I do have to agree with TheOneGuy that it looks rather messy from further away and gives one the impression (at least that's what happened to me) that there's something off with the cladding.
