The whole tower could use a washing. It has been pointed out a long time ago that the border has been looking "dirty" for awhile now and I wouldn't be surprised by the time the construction finishes, the building won't look as new as it did.

Are we gonna talk for pages about the dirtyness of the tower?..
They gonna wash it but keep in mind that the all area will be a construction site for years also do not expect an ideal environment.
That is part of the reason why it's hard for the PA and Durst to find tenants.
Also,i have been many times to NY and it's a fact that in lower Manhattan roadworks pop up like mushrooms after the rain.
I have travelled all over the world and for me New York and Los Angeles are the two most amazing cities in the world. But,also, they are both pretty dirty.
Especially in New York i always noticed that many buildings are really filthy.
Maybe the city officials would take advantage of seing what's going on in downtown Chicago
(It's so clean all around the Loop!)or even Miami where i live...
But,despite everything,i guess and i hope that New York will stay for ever....THE CAPITAL CITY of the World with very unique landmarks like THE ONE WTC!!....

Last time I checked the tower's "white border" was simply glass. I learned that because the parapet was basically very short glass panels protecting the equipment. I guess they'll just wash it like normal glass.

Yeah, I agree that New York is really dirty and filthy. As a child, my father couldn't even stand all the trash and junk on the streets.

...it's weird because i feel free to say that but when other people do it makes me angry just because i love New York so much...
Let's say it's getting much better since Giuliani and mainly Bloomberg.
Moreover and to get back on topic,One wtc is one of the pioneers about green buildings.

It's some sort of metal, probably stainless steel.

Beautiful building, it is seen that architects and designers to nicely treated by the project, maybe if they were the two towers it would create the impression that Forage WTC is still on its original site.

That's precisely what it is.

I had originally thought it was really reflective cladding too, but as the top of the parapet panels were placed, I discovered it was actually stainless steel.
