I remember how the WTC was like in 2012 (when you joined). It looked like a stub to me. I joined 2 days ago but I followed the thread for over a year.

It seems pretty self-explanatory from the Earthcam pics, but the BMU's are window washing equipment, correct?

This building has had a total of 4-5 cranes for construction, correct?

I remember when there were three on top of the building.

That sure looks like a defensive system to this tower

BTW, I'll miss that crane. I remember when he had a "friend" and we all were watching they lifting the steel to the top. Well, let's watch tower 3 rise then!

I forgot about that. "Three of a kind".

Look how far we've gotten since the start of construction.

It's funny how many of us seem so emotionally invested in this tower. Despite the fact that many of us have seen this building only on computer screens hundreds or thousands of miles away, we feel like parents watching their child go off into the world. We've watched this thing rise from the beginning and now it's finally nearing completion. Pretty soon this thread will start to lose attention and grow stagnant. We will migrate to another building which we will watch, argue about, and celebrate together. It's cool to know that we've had the opportunity to watch this tower grow piece by piece, rivet by rivet. Millions of people will see this building, thousands will walk by it and work in it everyday; but relatively few will be able to say that they've paid attention to the rise of this icon, and very few will truly appreciate what it takes to make such an architectural marvel possible.

Sorry for the nostalgic rant
PS. Some of you will be missed more than others

I have seen this tower twice in real life. By twice I mean from two trips, If I mean every single time I saw the tower then it would be well over 100 as I saw it countless times in my trip from Late-June/Early-July 2013.

And believe it or not I already plan on seeing it again sometime soon

I think I've just fallen in love (for the 3000 time) with this tower.

Makes the skyline of Manhattan epic... (I wish one day I can see it in person and not in a PC screen as I've been doing for the last 12 years...)

Still remembering the days when this tower was only a white steel beam in the bottom of a hole in Lower Manhattan... And here we are...

Took today.

While it was impressive from the memorial, I liked it best peaking out above lesser towers.
