Tower looking great. Was to travel to NYC this October but wont be there until May 2014 instead now.

Anyone know when the glass will be finished down the strip where the service elevator currently is? Also when is the observation desk due to open?

P.S - Why all the "My country is better than yours" nonsense? Everybody knows Ireland is the best country in the world

Is this going to finish early 2014? Because I think it'll be in mid 2014, maybe right before Shanghai Tower is complete. I can't believe the observation deck will open in 2015! So late! I wonder how expensive they are.

Me too! It doesn't DESERVE to be more than 300 meters. I mean, it's incredibly disgusting.

And by the way Ping An won't be completed until 2015.

Does anyone have an idea what the status of the tower will by mid-November? I'll be in town around then and looking forward to seeing it up close (it was only about 2/3 of the way up when I was there last). Think I can expect the base cladding to be done and the spire to be lit?

The USA is the ONLY country with a population 300 million plus and with a per capita income exceeding $45,000.

You need to know history. During the height of the British Empire, it was FRENCH that was the international and diplomatic language of the world. When the USA emerged victorious in World War II, that's when that situation began to change

I'm Asian and I have more faith in this country than I have of the emerging markets i.e. India and China

I'm a proud American as you can tell and since I love my country, it's natural for me to come and defend it even on the internet where freedom of speech is highly unregulated (except in China)

I apologize Skyscrapercity for getting off topic in regards to this beautiful structure
I'm also an American and somewhat agree with you here. America is still a great country and still an influential powerhouse, but recently things haven't been good for America. It's on the steady decline and will do so for a couple more years before we find out where it will stay, whether it be a superpower or just a very powerful nation. It's far from being the great country it was during the 20th Century and as much as I hate to say it it's not at that position anymore. The future is still bleak for America as we haven't seemed to made substantial progress in the last past 5 years.

I think the building came out alright, even with all the design changes.

but These buildings are very closed connected to politics...they are and the were alway symbols of power too. I can't really not understand, why that should be off-Topic?

The only good design change in my opinion was squaring off the base, the chamfered corners made the building look unstable to be honest. Could they have chosen better glass? Of course, but I still like it better sqaured
