Hi guys! I went on vacation the last couple of days and decided to take a break from the computer. But now I'm back!

I saw the World Trade Center from Chinatown on my way home yesterday and even now I'm dumbfounded on how big this thing is. It's huge!

And by the way, the crane is a little stump now! And the derrick boom was removed?

Goodbye crane, maybe one of the most photographed cranes ever? Now only the elevator to go.

Yeah watched it here in the UK the other night.

I thoroughly enjoyed it and was especially impressed with the tip of the antenna. It is such a beautifully detailed and crafted piece of engineering that they should have a second one in the lobby just so everyone can see and admire it.

Stunning.

I found the beginning very powerful, as they film the journey up the side of the tower in the external elevator. Reminded me of this clip from the original WTC:

We can see it clearly from Long Island...what a gorgeous day! This is from the Point Lookout area in Nassau County...taken by my crappy iPhone 4 camera but this would be an AMAZING shot with a really nice camera! I edited the first one to make it more obvious where the tower is, but original is below. This is probably 25-30 miles away.

Tribute of light is extremely faint this year.....

I could barely see it from my house.

Yes, it has.

And nevermind about my other comment. It got brighter so they must still be testing it.

Once I was in the Long Beach/Point Lookout area on LI I could see the lights blinking at the top clearly. Not sure if that was just the aircraft lights or if the beacon was being tested. It was bright as a lighthouse.

The tribute of lights is a 9/11 thing so no reason they'd do that already. Rest assured if I can see it flashing from LI, we will both see the lights tribute. Hell, you could see the smoke clearly on 9/11 from 40 miles away on LI.

2 beams. But this vantage point makes it look like its one. But don't worry, it's 2 beams.
