I think it would be a spectacular sight to have all the memorial lights stationed around the edges of the memorial pools so the lights can beam right at the original foot prints of the towers. It would certainly give a ghost like effect.

I think it may just be due to how bright that complex already is...the flood lights wouldn't stand out as much, would they?

I think you guys need to stop complaining about where the lights are, they can't just simply place them around or even in the pools.....What you should be appreciating is that they are putting so much effort, and costs into setting up these lights and continuing them even though they were supposed to be discontinued after 2011

It is probably a logistic issue. The site has been u/c for years and now the pools are open to the public. I don't think it would be safe to have people walking so close to such powerful equipment. The parking garage isn't so far away from the actual site and it's safer.

The complex is only bright right now because interior work on the ceilings has not yet been completed. The lights you see inside the buildings that are so bright are actually construction lights and not permanent ceiling lights. Once the ceiling lights are installed inside the buildings, then it will be dramatically less bright. In that case, the memorial lights would have an amazing impact on the area.

People have a right to disagree and agree about issues. The memorial pools are not even open at night to the public, so there is no danger to public when the lights would be turned on.

What he said And plus they could be on the inside of the pool too. Where the waterfalls. Maybe those light beam generators could be above the water to allow the beams to shoot out. Just a thought.

This photo is AMAZING. Wallops is at least 200 miles from NYC, and the fact you can see the launch over the lights of Manhattan is really incredible.

The launch kicks off LADEE's mission to investigate the Moon's atmosphere. Yes, the "airless Moon" has an atmosphere. It is ten thousand billion times thinner than Earth's, but nevertheless there. Apollo astronauts actually saw it with their own eyes.

LADEE, short for "Lunar Atmosphere and Dust Environment Explorer," will circle the Moon for 100 days to assay the lunar atmosphere. Instruments onboard the spacecraft will look for signs of humidity, electrified dust, and atoms hopping across the lunar surface. A NASA video about LADEE previews the mission.

The fact that was most impressive to me is also the one most news agencies didn't report: the Minotaur V is actually a decommissioned Peacekeeper MX ICBM. We launched a former nuclear missile to the moon!

I respect your opinion, but we don't need 5 different people to say the same thing...you can't do anything about it...I know they're closed at night, I live nearby and I never said it was dangerous it would be nice though

Electricity and water don't go well together...but the lights would have an awesome shimmering effect

I'm not sure how you would wire so many lights in the middle of the pool, probably could be done but would cost a lot of money and it wouldn't look too pretty in daylight.

Now if the lights had been built under the pools to shoot out of them originally...
