Tapered sides of the new tower affect the perspective of it relative to surrounding buildings.

Well I agree with you on the thinkness and bulkness of the differences between the original and new. But i am asking you this is a respectful way, how does the tappering effect the apperance of the Height prospective.

That is the Ansonia Building located in the Upper West Side at 73rd street and Broadway. It is one of my favorite buildings. It was designed to be a Parisian style apartment house and it is definitely the most European style building in NYC.

The Goldman Sachs building makes the WFC look bigger that it used to, and therefore takes away a bit of the WTC's dominance, as compared with the Twins'.

But I don't really see what you're saying in comparing it to ESB. 1 WTC is closer to ESB than the Twins were, in addition to actually being taller than them, so there's virtually no way it could appear shorter in relation... given two identical viewpoints, anyway.

You're probably looking at photos where the camera angle was tilted differently from one to the next. A slight downward angle would make the building in the background appear higher, and a slight upward angle would make the building in the background appear shorter.

YES, what you see is what you get! The covering that made it look good that was in the original design was scrapped. They said it would have been difficult to clean and that was the reason it was dropped, others say it was because of cost. Probably the true answer is somewhere between those 2.

The major change of design is one of the reasons many people think it will now be called an antenna and not be included in the total building height.

911's tomorrow! Gonna post something special, like a rendering. Look how far we've gone since the 1970s!

Congratulations, New York, and congratulations America for finally showing that in some way you're still more powerful than any other place in the world. The complex and the rebuilding is amazing.

I guess any other country would have just put a statue or a memorial there, or just rebuild the twins, but America didn't. They decided to move on with the times, and the result is an AMAZING complex. Once again, congratulations.

I guess wghat im asking is,, if u look at the 2001pic, there is a white building which roof looks like stairs,(I'm using as a point of reference)From the 2001pic, the (brown)bldg is right in front of the twins. Then theres another black building to its left(looks like cranes on the roof of the building in front of it), I dont see "that black" building in the current pic, I looked up the one libertyplaza, that looks like the bldg thats in the 2001 pic, but i dont see it in the current pic, and it doesnt say destroyed on ssp.. Damn i'm confusing myself now,, hope u can understand what i'm trying to say. The black bldg looks like it was where 4wtc is now. Whats the brown bldgs name in front of twin towers? maybe i can figure it out that way..Looks like it's totally gone in the current pic.Unless it's slightly a different angle thats messing with my eyes? Somethings screwing me up because the only 2 bldgs that look the exact same in both pics,, is the white(stairlike) bldg, and the red bldg slightly to it's(whitebldg) left. Hopefully somebody can decipher what I'm trying to say here and set me straight. If i knew how to circle things ( I could repost it, circle the bldgs in question) and someone could answer me, it would make this a lot easier, but I'm happy just knowing where the power switch is when it comes to computers.
