Seems the Brooklyn Bridge cam swings over to 1WTC at the top of the hour (:00), at :10, :20, etc. It stays there for five minutes, then switches to the Hudson river (at :05, :15, :25, etc.) for five minutes.

Edit: Well, maybe not that simple. At :20 it switched to the East river, then zoomed in on the Brooklyn bridge a minute or two later, then zoomed back out shortly after that. Either a human is controlling it, or else it's set on a really weird guard tour. Oh well, the show seems to be over anyway with the spire test lighting.

Seeing this lit just highlights how badly the mechanical floor need to be lit. Does anyone know if they're still planning LED lighting along the facade on these floors?

Yes, it look absolutely amazing. I don't think the lighting would look as good if it had the radome. It would be bland compared to the naked mast. However, I think the radome would look better in the daytime.

So that's what we need: A radome that automatically retracts and folds down to hide inside the communications ring at night (and during spire maintenance).

Are there plans to light the communications ring too, or is it only going to be the spire and beacon?

Wow! That spire looks damn good lit. I think this effect is better with the radome not included. I think it would look cooler with the dishes showing instead of being covered.

It looks more Gotham than the radome would have looked, by far. It definitely suits NYC better.

What we are appreciating at this moment is nothing more than the propagation of light over complex and cluttered geometry, which improves the overall panorama by providing clear contrasts of light throughout the mast. A similar but more elegant effect would have been achieved with the radome, indeed.

Not a fan of the building, not a fan of the spire and not a fan of the lighting of it. The building looks straight out of the eighties, the spire (aka antenna) is wimpy and the full lighting appears to be trying too hard. I prefer the lower end lighting of the antenna better, not the entirety.

With that being said I hope it grows on me and nothing happens to it. I can't wait to visit the site some day soon. I really want to visit the museum. I hope that the WTC2 is built by then. The only building in the WTC complex that I like.

Sick in bed so I didn't get to go out today.

Good to see the mast and beacon lit.

Glad to see they didn't make a liar of me when I told you guys to keep an eye out tonight or tomorrow for the spire lighting test. And keep in mind that this IS just a test. They have the ability to control these fixtures in just about every way imaginable, so it's totally conceivable that they may decide to dial it back (dimming) by certain percentage points for particular colors vs. others.

It feels good to see the initial reception as being overwhelmingly positive!!!

So stoked right now I think I'll use my first-ever dancing banana!!
