Yup, that's far better Although it would be best if the vertical edges would have such lighting too

The lighting looks gorgeous. I luv it. You can tell this is going to be an iconic spire.

I don't know why the developers don't see what we see...

Is it just me or does the antenna look like a Christmas tree when lit up?

Love the different colors the mast looks amazing fully lit! They really should light the communications rings too, to really set off the mast & add an extra visual element to it. Not sure if the rings are equipped to be lit. And maybe if they could devise a way to light the subtle slits in the mechanical floors to add another element of lights too. But yea, it's simply breathtaking to see the spire lit.

I absolutely agree. Before the communication rings were completed, everyone said the antenna was too unproportional for the building.

The communications rings are key to the visual design it adds to the tapering effect at the top. Not sure if they are equipped to be lit, but visually, it would look better if they lit them at night also..it would make the spire look less abrupt on top of the building since the spire is so large. Glad to see they are at least lighting the guide wires.

If they're testing the lights now, doesn't that mean there has to be some kind of purpose? I think it's a red flag that they're going to light it up for something that's not a test soon. TheCap'n thinks it's tomorrow night (when they'll start lighting it up permanently).
TheCap'n already said that they are not planning to light it up tomorrow anymore. Here's the post he write in the last page.

And here is the post he was referring to in the above, when he first announced that it would possible be a testing last friday or saturday but it won't be planning to light it up on monday anymore, as he previously announced.

Believe me, when they are going to light it up permanently it would be announced, just wait for that.
And what they are doing is just a test, the purpose of it is testing the system, nothing more. They need to know if everything is functioning properly and fix any malfunction (if there's any) That's nothing more than that.
When they considered it is ready, that is all right, they will announce a date to lit it permanently.

By the way, these pictures are pretty cool, they show most of New Yok's more important spires light up

If they could put equipment in the communication rings, they could probably put lighting equipment in there. But, on the other hand, the lighting equipment has to be tied down to something if the satellites are, too, but if the satellites aren't tied down they don't need to be, apparently.

If cranes put the lighting equipment in place, I doubt it's possible that you could put lighting equipment on the communication rings without a crane. And I also doubt that they'll erect another crane or derrick for the lighting.

Also, if they've tested it now, that means we're getting the real deal in the tests. However, they didn't put all the lighting in when they tested it in July, so it's possible that they're going to light up the communication rings.

And it's possible that the communcication ring lights have been here for a long time, but I've never heard of it, so I guess the conclusion is that there's no lighting on the communication rings.

I've said it twice already that they are not planning to light it permanently tomorrow night. It has been pushed back. Please stop making false statements and attributing them to me. It's irresponsible and I don't appreciate it. I have a pretty good record of providing useful and accurate information on this forum, and Twice now, you've chosen to share old info and cite me in your post.
