Wow, that picture is beautiful. It really shows it's dominance.

EDIT: 500 post! Yay

Anyhow, does anybody know the span between the outer columns and the core. The office floors look very small in this tower.

A couple observations from the cam today.

I believe they have fireproofed the last section of steel in the podium, behind the lift, in preparation for cladding.

Also, you can see that the dismantling of the Vesey St Bridge entrance has begun, adjacent to the north side of the tower.

Steps...

The Goldman Sachs, WFC and WTC all compliment each other very nicely.

Restoration of West Street is progressing..

from http://www.lowermanhattan.info/news/...nts_26924.aspx

Quote:
West Street Promenade Improvements Ahead

As construction on the west side of the World Trade Center (WTC) enters its final phases, the New York State Department of Transportation (SDOT) is now taking steps towards Promenade South Segment 2 project completion. In an October Community Board 1 meeting, SDOT project managers shared what work is ahead in the effort to improve West Street (Route 9A), one of Manhattan's busiest traffic corridors.

Working with the Port Authority, SDOT is beginning removal of the Vesey Street Pedestrian Bridge, which closed on October 7th and was replaced by the street-level pedestrian crosswalk across West Street. The Port will continue removing the bridge in sections over the next few months, and soon SDOT will shift the northbound lanes of West Street to their permanent position beside the WTC site. With the Vesey Bridge removed, SDOT can begin building West Street median. The Port also will continue the streetscape around 1 WTC, where Fulton Street is being reconstructed above the future West Concourse, part of the WTC Transportation Hub, along with the tower's frontage on the other three sides.

SDOT's primary focus through the end of this year and into 2014 is rebuilding the West Street frontages outside the World Financial Center (WFC) towers. Work is expected to start soon outside 1 WFC, from Albany to Liberty, and in the new year, crews will expedite construction moving northward to Vesey. The West Street pedestrian and bikeway also will be restored, though the timeline has not yet been determined.
