I think he has brain damage. He needs a brain transplant. After more than 7 years of construction, that douchebag thinks it is an eyesore? god...

If they had build the Libeskind design I would've totally agreed, but fortunately that's not the case!

Wait until 3 and 2 WTC join the group!

That article is an absolute disgrace. An eyesore to NY?
I wonder what he would have thought of the other proposed designs for this tower.
I personally think it's a beautiful tower.
To each his own opinion but I think that article was a bit over the top

Perhaps, but that symbolic number should not be a reason for the CTBUH to break their own rules or to change the interpretation of them. The spire is mounted on the roof, not much different from the spires at Willes Tower or JHB, to name just two of the many buildings who have such features.

If these spires doe not count for these buildings, then they should also not count for WTC1. Just my two cents.

Banksy has a point it, is pretty bland.

Like a Nissan Sunny or Toyota Camry.

Safe and predictable, but not particularly daring.

Of course, being an "artist"... bold/controversial will always be better.

It really depends on your frame of mind/what you want from the building or what is it supposed to represent?

The difference is, the antenna's on top of the Sears Tower were added later in 1982 after the Tower was completed and their sole purpose was for TV communications. 1WTC's spire has no communication equipment added or planned to be added and was obviously completed WITH the Tower

Banksy is bland and boring and stupid.

And he's not an artist.

Another pissed off Canadian here. I agree with a commentator on the gawker page, who mentioned some of the incredibly cool buildings in Canada. Banksy can go eat a bag of dicks.

Some of you, I'm assuming very young and immature, have issue with diversity of opinion in this room. Regardless how long One World Trade Center took to build, or how many men it took to build it, or how many people died on 9/11, it is of no relevance to the fact that the new tower may indeed be boring in appearance to some individuals. That doesn't make that individual disrespectful on any level. What is disrespectful are the names being used to describe such a person. Do I think the tower looks beautiful? I do. Do I think a tower being built to represent the dreadful occurrence that took place as well as America's freedom, strength, and resilience, could have been much more than what it is? Absolutely. Although beautiful in it's own rite, I too believe it could have been so much more in both appearance and statement. I, like MANY other New Yorkers and Americans feel the same way, so deal with it, because your childish name calling is not going to bully anyone into believing it's this masterpiece of architecture that should win awards.

Why the hell are you all getting upset for? There's thousands of people out there who think the same. There are also thousands who think the opposite. He's just one of them whose opinion got in the newspaper. Architecture is art and art is subjective thing. Some people like it, some don't. But it's not worth getting all crazy because one personal opinion got into newspaper. It's not like this is the fact now and 1WTC is officially marked as an eyesore. It's just one personal opinion. I bet there's more people who like new WTC than those who don't.

This man clearly needs looked at, what a poor written article. Although you all do need to chill. The guy is entitled to an opinion, and whether you like it or not he has the freedom to express himself. Allot of people seem to forget that at one point 95% OF NYC did not want the new WTC. Yes he has written it in a very untasteful way and most of the points he makes are just totally incorrect. But the core of it I can see what he means when he references to it as if it does not want to be there.

Alright, let's get back on track. The eastern side of the base looks really great now that it has more cladding.
