it would fit right in, if it were in Shanghai no doubt the architects would probably include led's on the stainless steel edges as well for the ambiance.

Source please?
I've looked at pages and pages showing the definition of Antenna, and I can't find one definition, where it describes what we have here. Maybe I missed one though

The "antenna" is actually a mast.

The pinnacle has been called so many things that I honestly don't even know what it is anymore.

It's a mast that can hold antennas, but if it had the panels it would be a spire.

So mast's count in a buildings architectural height, right?

You can count it however you want. There is not a definition that is agreed upon by everyone. Some people care about CTBUH's opinion... Perhaps that is what you are asking about?

Why not just define it as "structural" vs. "architectural" height? That seems to be far more useful. Though, I guess you'd still have a debate on your hands about whether it's an antennae (architectural) or spire (structural), right?

Instead of just re-hashing the old argument, can anyone simply point out why it suddenly becomes more of an antennae because they didn't include the radome (well, that seems to be what happened to people like me who don't "get it")?

Looks like they've done more of the fireproofing for the east side of podium by the external elevator, and also looks like they've added the protruding spikes above the south entrance doorway which are shown in renders of the entrance/west plaza!

I think the reason why is because the radome covering was the original vision for the pinnacle and everybody thought that it was what we were getting. Then, they suddenly change the design and many people thought it looked uglier and weaker than a spire and that it looked closer to an antennae. Honestly, if I were to never see it before, I would think it was an antennae as well. However, it does look very sturdy, like it should belong up there.

And wouldn't the spire/antenna would've been unable to be lite in more than one color.

What I find "just amazes me" is how this building is configured. I guess I really didnt pay close attention, how there are only "90 degree corners on the very bottom and top". More of a series of 6? very long triangles. In the architecture business what is that called? and is the design of this buiding one of higher diffuculty? And guess what I'm really asking, the floor plan of the middle floors, obviously not a box or square shape, but would that be hexagon shaped? Probably a stupid question to some forumers, but just wondering how difficult of a "plan" that would be to put it all together on something of this magnitude. Also Shanghai Tower has a look like it's almost built "like it's leaning backwards" from certain angles. Just something I think is cool and unique with these 2 structures.
