There's no way anyone can look at this and tell me the spire/mast/whatever doesn't fit into the skyline. I feel that the randome would have looked more out of place than anything.

it will fit in even better once the elevator is taken care of and 3 WTC along with its spires grace the skyline.

Early 2014 is when it's supposed to open. An exact date has not yet been given.

It won't matter what the CTBUH decides on which building is taller because One WTC is structurally taller than Wills aka Sears regardless of the roof height. As I've mentioned before, this building was designed to be 1,776 feet and the mast or spire was built during the construction unlike the North Tower, Willis, John Hancock, ESB, 4 Times Square, and so on..... I noticed how Durst looked rather confident in that video so I'm sure he has an idea what they decided.

I really hope you're wrong and the CTBUH will decide to not count it towards the building's height. The antenna of 1WTC is one tall cheating stick and it would be a humiliation to the building itself if it would be counted. Rather be the on a lower spot in the height rankings without cheating tan to be on a higher spot with cheating ........

Loving the pics here of the new 1 WTC. I will be over in May 2014 and hope to see many changes since I was last there in 2011.

The slender tower and towering beacon almost symbolize a beacon of hope and courage. More than just any other building.

Via WTC Progress on Facebook:

Quote:
Hello Facebook,

Tonight at approximately 530 p.m. The Port Authority of NY & NJ and The Durst Organization will conduct a test of the spire and beacon atop One World Trade Center. The beacon, which is the top section of spire, contains 288 50-watt LED modules that produce 288,000 lumens of light that will enable the spire to be visible up to 50 miles on a clear night. We are asking that you post your photos and captions tonight.

Thanks WTCProgress

We all know you are a roof person Kanto. I don't blame you, I think spires and antennas are useless but they are physically there whether we like it or not. You can't just walk through it or pretend it isn't there. Burj Khalifa cheats too and yet it's the tallest building in the world. The New York Times Building in NY has the skinniest spire I've ever seen and yet they count that POS. So even if CTBUH doesn't count it, it's pinnacle is still 1,797' 8".

So I've been working on a paper model for the new WTC. I wanted to share this base I have made for all of the buildings once I finish them all. Im basically re-painting the whole thing. Here it is!

Also if you want to keep up to date with my latest progress for my project go to my thread!

Well, we just have to agree on diagreeing. Tomorrow is the big day and this will be a hell of a night at the CTBUH building where the decision will be made cause I can't remember that a height measurement issue in CTBUH history ever was this controversive and medialized

I've seen them talking about it on 3 different news channels today. This must be like a Jury deliberation over in Chicago
