Off topic but has anyone ever had to deal with that jackass moderator NYGuy on SSP? He is completely rude to anyone who doesn't agree with his views on the mast.

Spot 3 is no way a place to be. How well my "beloved" doesn't suit here.

Good diagram pretty accurate, but the height difference between 1wtc, and the mecca clock tower is a little off, One World Trade communication ring is the same height as the mecca clock tower 3-9 clock face, not under and 1wtc spire is a little bit taller .

Horrible incorrect decision IMO. But, because of what this building replaced and why it was built it was always going to get credit for "full height" to be the tallest in the US. Look at that diagram above. The fact that 3 and 4 are listed as being taller than 5 and 6 is ludicrous at best.

This is the saddest day in the history of 1WTC. I can't even begin to explain how dissapointed and sad I am. 1WTC's honor is in ruins and height cheating was promoted to a next level. In other words, the gap between what is fair and what is official has just become far wider than it was (it was already very wide to begin with)

The moment I saw Vito's post saying that 1 776 feet is official I thought "Oh no, tears are falling ........"

However hard it is to try and admit the fact,I am glad about "will-be-getting" to see this thing pop up in different articles, for example, in guiness world records 2014/15... and so on. There's apparently no good reason referring it as taller than SWFC or ICC.

Now there is no antenna mast 1WTC. If they appear - the decision will be incorrect. The presence of antennas on the steeple should resolve the dispute.

what a shame. i want to know how much money the CTBUH got for making that call.

to say this building is taller than SWFC is laughable. what a joke.

1 WTC vs SWFC:

Not that I would care, but the decision seems rather ridiculous when using some common sense.

Here is another thing that I love what you guys are doing !making anthropomorphic analogies to inanimate objects! I don't know what the age ranges are in this form but I'm guessing around 20 to low twenty-something year-old ? so I guess most of you still have it's all about me and my perspective mentality ? but maybe when you guys get a little older you Value the meaning of tradition even when the point of view deems to be unfair .

Now I really want to see a 100m building with 500m thin spire on top of it and CTBUH's explanation. I would kill to see that.

Incorrect decision. It is clearly a spire and should not be included. This makes this whole process of how to measure tall buildings into a joke.

This building spire reaches 95% of the height. But it has a shell. No antenna on the steeple.

Yeah, this decision is wrong on so many levels. We really need to start to pressure to get rid of designs like Taipei101, 1WTC (after the removal of the visual elements of the spire), Ping'An IFC, etc. These are basically designed only to win some type of title based on height; their crown designs have no practical or aesthetic purpose.

Good God, what is with the autism in this thread? Would you prefer they lower the height and completely ruin the symbolic nature of this building? Sorry, but "muh antenna" just isnt going to cut it, the spire is an architectural extension of the building, which means it counts as part of the the height. That's why Petronas is taller than Sears, why Chrysler beat out 40 Wall Street back in the day. Calm down, we should be happy the tallest building in America is finally going back to New York.

The 118th floor swimming pool at the Ritz-Carlton (ICC) Hong Kong is higher than the roof at One WTC .

What is currently on top of this building is not an architectural extension. It is a functional element that, without the radome encasing it, does not contribute to the architectural expressionism of this building. This is a 1368 foot building, not a 1776 foot building. Its not that difficult of a concept to grasp.

Then build the darned thing according to its ORIGINAL design, not strip off cladding that was an essential visual element of the spire, and makes the spire more than just a functioning antenna.

Seriously, do you work for Durst's PR arm or something?
