Thanks for those pics Chris. It's looking amazing. Is the interior marble and stainless steel?

Not sure about the stainless steel, it could be.

Definitely reminiscence to the Twin Towers lobby. I like how the windows in the lobby are like those of the Twin Towers, as well.

They really need to light the spire up again. It looks like nothing is there.

Goldman Sach would make an excellant 5 or 6 WTC.

It's like a fraternal twin of 4 WTC.

It really would. It went up around the same time period as the WTC, and has a similar appearance. Why not?

I know this thread is dedicated towards One WTC, however I have been wondering whether or not 5 WTC is truly going to be built or not. The original plan called for it to be mainly for residential use, however there really have been no updates on it in the past 3 years... Could somebody enlighten me on it.

That's going to be years from now. Remember that the original WTC took 15 years to be completed, so this one should take a long time as well.

No, it wouldn't. They would need to shine lights up at it. The current spire has powerful up lighting on each platform.

The EXACT same thing I was thinking, it would be nice to know if this were intentional or if it was just coincidence in design.

Yes, but the difference is that the Twin Towers were completed in 3 years, and 1 wtc is not completed yet, and has been 7 years since it's construction started.

The groundbreaking for the WTC took place in 1966. The foundations were in place by 1968 and steel erection occurred until December 1970 for Tower 1 and July 1971 for Tower 2. They "officially" opened in 1973 but the buildings were not completed externally until 1974-1975 range. When Philippe Petite walked between the Towers the parapets weren't even finished yet. However those Towers were a lot of work. People tend to think they were weak, not built strong enough. No one ever anticipated 9/11 of course. The only thing the Towers needed was a concrete core. The steel used was about 100,000 tons per Tower, more than the 40 or 50,000 tons used for One World Trade Center. The exterior of the Towers was really strong, probably stronger than One World Trade Center's.

the beacon is interesting, it shines so brightly it becomes the focus point at a good distance but up close it compliments the rest of the mast.

The Tower overall looks very nice, but they could have done a better job designing the Spire. It looks weak, doesn't stand out much in the day, but when lit at night it looks good.
