Went to the site today, and I must say that this thing is a behemoth! Wow! It makes you dizzy just looking at it. But I loved every minute I stared at. So dominating and massive, powerful, too!

Looks more like West NY, NJ. It's got some nice pre-war building stock in it.

The photographer probably took the shot from the roof of this building:

https://maps.google.com/maps?q=West+...,342.54,,0,-21

If you zoom away and look down the line of sight to the WTC, you'll see the tile roof, the brick apartment with chimneys, and the apartment with the corner towers.

No I meant if all the fins will be open at the same angles. Like in the photo the ones at the top are closed and at the bottom their open. Will they gradually open as they go toward the bottom? Like will the top fins be closed and open slightly more and more til the bottom?

Oh they will all be the same angle like the ones at the bottom.

No they will not, The fins are already in their final positions. It is meant for them to gradually open as they are.

Actually, in some ways the past was better for New York. I think DeBlasio should keep the good qualities of the past and continue building buildings like the Steinway Tower into the future.

My apologies if this has been shared before, as I was listening to the show as a podcast.

A recent episode of NPR's "Wait! Wait! Don't tell me!" referenced the CTBUH decision to recognize the element on top of 1WTC as a spire instead of an antenna. Included in the discussion was this gem by the host: "The antenna - The comb-over of skyscrapers!"

Now that's just going too far. I for one think the rest of the tower is very beautiful and they shouldn't say that just because of one element; the spire. While I think it could've been better, there's still much more to like about this building than the spire.

I don't know why you would fancy twin 1 wtc's, Windows.

The tapering effect would look odd with two of them.

Speaking of twins, I think 15 Hudson Yards in the same width and height as the twins would look good.

Aside from the fact that i feel like twins will always be a symbol of NYC one way or another, i don't think twins 1WTC would look bad at all. Even with the tapering.
