The terrorists have lost the first day after the attacks.

That one with the towers "flipping the bird" wasn't a serious design proposal. The others were.

I kinda knew that, but that would have been funny.

Inspiration to the fact that we have re-built, with care. The time taken to re-build has been carefully thought out, even with some people accrediting issues with certain design factors, ultimately this new tower is phenomenal and I for one have thought the same since it's Inception. The tower appears as if it's a silhouette of the original designs when viewed from all four sides directly, yet has been tapered on the corners so that the wind can travel around the building, adding a new and dimensionally interesting aspect to it's architecture and preventing swaying of the structure.

Building the original towers may have been a great idea, but it may have also been dwelling on the past, not taking a step forward, but a step backwards. The designers realised that the Twin Towers were built in a time period much older than todays standards and the architectures had to envision something that would be fitting towards the modern present and the future.

Building this new complex points towards 'new', it allows for a step forward towards future thinking and not the past.
Perfection is key. They are pretty nice buildings. Imagine when te whole complex is complete.

Actually on Orion's post, I like the 2nd design, what was the height proposal for that one? Kinda looks like a jackknife.

The architectural height is 1776 ft. tall. The design was rejected because of safety concerns. The large empty space was supposed to be a wind turbine.

That design was intended to be a crude perspective of the Statue of Liberty.

Exactly Personally, I believe no one should presume and comment unsurely or negatively about the complex before it's final and complete appearance. In my opinion you can't judge an unbaked cake before it's finished or really anything for that matter.

I'm sure when everything is done, even if it will take a while, when the entire complex is finished, shining clean, pure and clear it will present a certain clarity, edge of elegance and dominance that a lot of people are hoping for.
I'm sure seeing 2WTC and 1WTC together will be very impressive let alone the entire complex, of course we cannot forget 3WTC and 4WTC. The entire complex, the hub and memorial, all completed will be a welcoming and tranquil destination of green and blues and will produce an atmosphere of warmth and nurturing, remembering the memory and history and the lost individuals of the attacks.

I'm sure when fully completed, the site will show how people can rise in times of great sadness and how people come together as one to bring back hope where hope was lost.

Indeed.

The building went through two design phases that incorperated the wind turbines.

The only building I like with a wind turbine is the Bahrain World Trade Center.
