Looking at nyharborwebcam.com, the spire is lit, but the beacon doesn't appear to be on

Maybe they're fixing or tweaking it.

Just kicked on.

EDIT: I personally think the spire is too dim.

Wow! When that beacon shines directly into the camera, it is bright!

Yeah the beacon is super bright when it shines at the camera! And as for the spire being dim, maybe it's just the color? Perhaps when it's lit in white, it will be brighter? Just a theory...

We've seen it when it's lit in all white, so we already know it's brighter.

Just to let you all know, the color scheme will not be like the Twin Towers where it's white on non-special occasions. It will alternate between different colors just as 4 Times Square and BOFA tower do.

I hope later on they light up the 3 story circle walk way where the dishes suppose to be, because even with the spire being lit up it looks like a super tall stick with no volume especially with the top floors being darken.

The communication rings won't be lit, but the mechanical floor will be eventually.

1 WTC's spire/beacon is actually a large-scale neuralyzer being used by the MIB!

the beacon doesn't seem as bright as it did in November. Maybe it's not at full power.

edit: here's some good footage from a distance. I could see it clearly from an even further distance. I think you have to be a good distance away from the building for the beacon to be very prominent.

The GWB towers are also lit for the SB. I wish they would do that more often, it looks nice. Maybe it distracts drivers or something.

here's another look inside with views from the observation levels

Can I ask why the heck is the beacon such a disappointment? I thought it was going to be brighter and rotate while sending out light like a lighthouse?

^ I think they oversold it a bit in the renders. They made it look like a solid beam from a thousand suns.

You mean the rendering of the beacon shooting vertically up?

Because that concept was always false.

This is what the Beacon was projected to look like.

And we already know what the Mast and Beacon looks like when done right.
