No he's 100% right. Shanghai and Dubai can never compete with NYC in terms of style and grandeur even with their megatalls. It all tacky superficiality in those cities.

Does someone have any clue on what they're doing on Vesey Street?

I'm also wondering why they added scaffolding to the base of the Verizon building (which can be clearly seen in above picture as well, to the right of the red circle)...

Seriously, what is the deal with people and their distaste for the spire being lit in different colors? A white spire at night is nice. But different colors are a refreshing treat as well. Some people are too picky.

honestly. I cant stand Shanghai and Hong Kong excessive disneyland style lighting. After a point, it becomes an eyesore. all those lasers shooting up and ever direction.

NYC has it just about right. A little more LED neon stuff like BOA tower in mid town, but dont need to make it a sci-fi movie set like Shanghai and hong kong.

it becomes plain ugly.

They all have their place and they all create a unique sense of place...I wouldn't say one way is better than the other. I find the colored lights of the Chinese cities fascinating and beautiful.

I do know this. There is only one New York City when it comes to the character and texture of the skyline and NYC should never try to be anything other than itself. In that sense I would agree, laser light shows and dancing colored lights all over the place are not fitting. Some LED color on the spire (at times) though seems perfectly reasonable and fitting with the city.

They seem to be having issues with the mast lighting tonight.

Bottom section is completely off and an area on the top is flickering.

Damn good progress, looks "real good" as they close the tower up so to speak, looks great as the elevators coming off, lets just hope the minute the last piece of glass and last piece of external elevator is removed that T3 starts it's ascent. That would keep us Downtown skyscraper fans "perfectly satisfied" for a bit.................... Then on to 2, i'll just be happy with 3 rising for now.
