Why does the "spire" go out after midnight?

I really hope that's not permanent. The building looks very odd without the spire and mechanical floors lit at night.

Is the spire finished? I have the feeling, that they will do something with it.

Yes the spire is finished. That's why they've been lighting it up...

lol, that wasn't even the final design of the radome, it would have looked even more like a mini-Chicago spire.

But the top of the real spire looks like the top of the other planned spire.

The new WTC complex will not feature as many finance-related firms as the old one did, but as 1 WTC is the king of downtown NYC, I figured this was a good place to post the articles below.

It's a bit surprising, given the loss of finance jobs in NYC since 9/11 and the financial crisis that started in 2008, but here it is:

New York Steals London’s Mantle as World’s Top Financial Center

New York replaced London as the world’s leading financial center for the first time, after the City was rocked by a series of scandals and questions over the U.K.’s place in the European Union.

New York holds the top spot in the latest Global Financial Centres Index with a “shaky, statistically insignificant” two-point lead, according to Michael Mainelli, chairman of Z/Yen Group Ltd., which compiles the index. Hong Kong and Singapore, the two leading Asian centers, have narrowed the gap between them and the top two to fewer than 30 points on a scale of 1,000, the index shows.

New York takes London's crown as top financial center: survey

(Reuters) - New York has knocked London from its position as the world's leading global financial center after seven years, according to the Global Financial Centres Index compiled by London-based consultancy Z/Yen.

London slipped from the top of the global rankings, scoring 784 against 786 for New York, because a series of own goals had tarnished its reputation, the report said.

"London sees the largest fall in the top 50 centres," said Mark Yeandle, report author and associate director of Z/Yen, in a statement on the group's website.

"This seems to be based on a number of factors including ... uncertainty over Europe, the perception that London might be becoming less welcoming to foreigners and perceived levels of market manipulation."

Hong Kong and Singapore took third and fourth spots respectively, the same as a year ago, the survey showed.

But the gap between the "Big Four" and the chasing pack, led by Zurich, Tokyo and Seoul, was narrowing, it said.

I wonder what would the spire would have looked like if it was lit with the radome and won't the communication rings have the white coverings anyway.

Look at the poor quality of the photo,, I,, ( and I imagine the owners as well as builders) guarantee, if it looks as hideous as it looks on this render, they (New York Port Authority,, Larry, Durst or whoever), would never do it. Just expect the final product, (and this is why they're probably testing? the colors), to be bright, as well as crisp and sharp, not like that photo. There is no way after spending 4 Billion on a building it's colors will be "ugly".
