Could we just see these same mockups with the dish-filled comm ring but with the current spire? Because that's what we're gonna ultimately end up with.

The One WTC is surely a great building , personally i am not a fan of ''chinesery'' - glass angles and shiny stuff .. i prefered the boxy grey of the twin towers or the decency of Willis Tower .. What intrigues me the most thou is that we've been given ONE building instead of TWO twins .. both over 400 m! They fullfilled the skyline , look at any picture or video with the twin towers at night and you'll see.. the skyline looks more dense, more ''occupied''. I know .. 2 more towers are gonna rise .. but twin structures have a duality , they create an impression to the hearts, and not cold bloded respect for a cold hearted construction.

may it be possible that in a future time they may change the antenna for the spire?

IMHO I reckon if they'd stuck with The original Radome it could have led to nicknames related to a certain type of rolled 'cigarette', man

Again, in my most humble opinion, I believe that once the entire site is completed, the 'duality' you see will become present. I do not agree however that we have 'cold hearted construction'. I believe that through both the architectural, financial, economical and engineering challenges of the building itself, the building we have today is as beautiful as it's renders, I would say even better.

This building is being built with an enormous amount of thought behind it. From the architectural and engineering, to the practical and financial aspect. Including having the engineering aspect of the sides of the building being tapered, allowing wind to pass around the building and not through it, so that it does not sway. Whilst also having the architectural element of the building looking like the original World Trade Centre from all four front on sides, yet when viewed at an angle, it's sides are sliced upwards.

If you can imagine viewing ONE WTC with TWO WTC, regardless of completion time, then there is no doubt personally that, that feeling will become present again, especially with the elegance of FOUR WTC and the sharpness of THREE WTC. All completed with the mesmerising WTC Transit hub, the entire site will look phenomenal once finished. You can't judge something that is unfinished personally.

Can't believe I'm saying this, but I actually prefer the current antenna thing compared to the previous spire design

1 WTC not lit for St. Patrick's Day

Just checked out the two best live cams of 1 WTC:

http://www.earthcam.com/usa/newyork/...cam=liberty_hd

and

http://www.nyharborwebcam.com

And it doesn't seem like 1 WTC has the St. Patty's Day spirit even though the ESB does...

I have a feeling One WTC will follow in the footsteps of the Twins and only have it's spire lit white.

nonsense, the antenna on the old 1 WTC was lit via floodlights, not using different colors would be a waste of the capabilities of the LED boxes on the new tower.

Imo, the world changed, nyc changed after sep 11.

The old twin towers gave us calm feeling. The new ones look resilient, challengetaking.

Different worlds. Different philosophies.

I can't wait until the design for 5 WTC is eventually revealed. Then the complex will truly look complete.

I agree fully. Not utilizing the full potential of the spire's lighting system would be a complete waste and un-Durst-like.

I am just going to safely assume that the white lighting will only remain through the rest of the construction. But once the tower opens later this year, I expect a three-way light show between 1 WTC, BofA and 4TS or at least special occasion lighting like the ESB.
