$100 might not even cover the crane time. My guess would be at least a few thousand dollars each. The connecting hardware has to be engineered, wind loads tested, etc.

Not that it can't happen. But just that renders tend to not accurately represent that kind of detail. Are there examples of other skyscrapers with fake dishes added for symmetry?

Even so, it's up to the tenants if they want to use it for broadcasting. The ring could sit up there empty for many years.
The dishes can be sold to organizations that don't necessarily have any space in the building itself. They'd just be "communications tenants"

That dark top makes me increasingly mad. When do they plan to finally light it? 1WTC is a masterpiece, why keep it in the dark so that nobody can see it?

I have a question: what about that lighting up the building and mechanical floors thing? I mean, in the renders it makes One World Trade Center look great at night.

But in real life, only the "construction lights" are up. It looks okay from up close, but from far away it doesn't. So why would the designers program the lights to be able to illuminate a series of colors? Take this, for example:

I'm pretty sure these aren't permanent, but why are they still up, especially on Four World Trade Center? On a building that already opened, I'd expect the lights to be permanent. Is it is like the situation that opening is not like completion because they just allow tenants in?

Office lights are replacing construction lights when tenants are building out their floors, such as Conde Nast in One WTC.

the miller hare renderings have a lot of inaccuracies. I think they were done to show off the spire without the radome and the base. Even the spire wasn't depicted well in the renderings. (the beacon was at the very top instead of the middle of the stainless steel enclosure, and sveral sections of the spire were enclosed) The best thing depicted in them is the base lit up.

i'm not sure the mechanical floors will be lit like in this rendering either. The observation floors would be brighter, which doesn't make much sense to me. Then again, maybe its a way of indicating where the observation deck levels are in the tower.

I don't think the beacon has been on these past nights. That or its low power/not rotating. It's a clear night and I can't see it from the north.

I don't think this building would sit well with me without a spire.
