They're finally filling in the rest of the glass above the base!

There were some really good shots of 1 and 4 WTC in the new Spider-Man movie. The complex is turning out quite nicely imo

NYC Trip on 5/10/14

Well Everyone, My daughter & I went down to the Memorial and WTC Site this past Sat. We took time out to reflect on the tragedy and the future. The grounds are looking very well and there are signs of the weather taking it's toll on the pavers around the Reflecting Falls. Many cracks. It will be a very peaceful place to go and remember the fallen. As for the site it's self, All I can say is Pictures do it NO JUSTICE. You have to go there in person. The PATH building is going to be fantastic & the Museum looks very nice inside from the windows that are ground level in the memorial. I can't wait for our next trip down to actually go inside the museum. Here is a tip for all going to the memorial, Get you tickets online, The lines for the online ticket holders was very short and moved very quickly as for the other line not so much.
WTC Tower 1 looks and is very futuristic. THe area around the base is coming along nicely. My daughter at 27 was very amazed at it's height and said to me the it looks very majestic.

EDIT: I have pictures on my phone but I can't upload them yet. Coming Soon!

Conde Nast starts their move November through March. Their floors are currently being built out.

I wonder if once Conde Nast moves in, thereby completing the tower, the empty floors will remain lit by construction lights?

It looks like there are still some glass panels to be unfolded at the west side of the base above the entrance. I wonder how this will be done since the hoists at the first office floor have all been removed and those gaps were filled in with glass.

I still think the original plans of the west plaza of the building were the best. The open staircase and the fountain would have given the plaza a more open and 'inviting' character. Now it's all shielded from the street and sidewalk by that wall with planters. I guess the original design was rejected because of safety concerns (as if the building itself didn't already have enough safety measures).
Eventually, this will look fine too, especially with all the trees added.

I agree, the extra walls were overkill. No truck could get through the concrete sidewalk barriers to begin with, and even if it was someow possible, the tower's base is virtually indestructible. The walls might actually impede people in an emergency situation, honestly.

They essentially did what they always were against doing again, turning it into a super-block. The streets will only be accessible to limited people and it will be mostly pedestrians. It will basically be the original complex with new buildings, closed off.
